Here are some intriguing 2028 prospects deeper on the watch list that have caught my attention early on. I'm excited to dive into more film and get eyes on them in person. With their skill sets and upside, I have a strong feeling they'll be turning heads sooner rather than later.

Zakaria is a player who shoots lights out from deep, making it difficult to keep him off the floor. He excels in catch-and-shoot situations, but he moves without the ball and comes off screens ready to let it fly. Lots of shooters at this age will settle, but not him; he gets inside and finishes around the rim, fills the lane correctly, and does what is asked of him. He has been standing out for [program_tooltip program_id='2440900' first='24MD' last='Team Daum'] and will play a significant role for a Severance team that will head into the season as one of the favorites.

Korbin is a lockdown defender who takes pride in that end of the floor, and that is special for a young player. He is a relentless defender who is put on the opposing team's best player to slow them down; he defends without fouling and is a workhorse. He is also very good in the open floor and as a finisher who is aggressive, attacks in iso situations, but also lets the game come to him. I expect him to be a player who sees some varsity minutes this upcoming season, as that kind of defense can be contagious, and he is full of winning plays.

Yarbrough is a player that has excellent size at 6'5 and that size creates opportunities for him. He has great length and a motor that allows him to have the advantage more often than not. He also has the ability to step out to the 3-ball, and that makes him a weapon offensively. When he gets that going, with his back-to-the-basket game and ability to create second-chance points with his size, he becomes difficult to go against. He's a player that we feel should be on more radars, and we are excited to see more of him. He is on the watch list, but could progress quickly with a solid summer and a fast start to the season.

Jai'Dan is one of the players that I saw on multiple occasions last season take over for the GW JV team, and all I could wonder about is how he was not playing varsity yet. He is as balanced as they come with room to grow. He does a bit of everything and certainly uses his size. He excels in mid-range pull-ups, gets down hill to create a mismatch and attack it, and is one of the most skilled offensive players in the class. I truly feel as if that will be the report on him by junior or senior year. When it all comes together for him — watch out.

Lewis is a 6'0 score-first wing out of Grand Junction who made a strong impression in his freshman campaign. Averaging 9.3 points per game, he quickly showed he could put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. With soft touch around the rim and a reliable three-point shot, Lewis displayed creativity as a finisher and confidence as a shot-maker. As the season progressed, so did his comfort level as he began to embrace the moment and take on more of a scoring role. Moving forward, the next step in his development will be rounding out his game: rebounding at a higher clip, creating more for others, and committing defensively. Still, the talent is evident, and Lewis has already proven that he belongs on the floor. With continued growth, he's a player who could elevate his profile in a big way heading into his sophomore season.
