Champions have officially been crowned on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Over Memorial Day Weekend the Grit Region Finals took place in Illinois with three sites hosting 15u, 16u, and 17u play respectively. After a busy spring on the circuit it is always fun to watch teams get to compete in a tournament, win or go home, atmosphere. Over the next few days we will continue pumping out content from the weekend in typical Prep Hoops fashion. However, before diving a bit deeper into the weeds, let's begin by highlight our All-Tournament teams. Here are the five talented prospects that were chose First Team All-Tournament in the 17u age division.

One of the top unsigned senior prospects at the Grit Region Finals, Frye III helped lead his ABC Young Lions - Dillon team to the 17u championship game. The explosive 6'0" guard had consistent success beating his man at the point of attack and getting downhill to the rim. He is lightning quick in a straight line, elevates very well to finish at the rim, is is always disruptive on the defensive end of the floor. Not only was Frye III a leading scorer for his 17u runner-up team, but he also was arguably the best on-ball defender in the gym. He was a no-brainer selection when the First Team All-Tournament subject came up with other Prep Hoops scouts.

Anytime you see the VIP Kings on the team list for a Prep Hoops event you can essentially pencil [player_tooltip player_id='2389668' first='Garrison' last='Gilvin'] into First Team All-Tournament honors. This past weekend was no different. The super talented 6'3" guard was one of the top prospects at the event and led his team to the 17u title while playing up an age group. Gilvin scored 23 points in the VIP Kings quarterfinal victory and backed it up with 21 points and 9 rebounds in the championship game. The Trinity High School prospect has really made a name for himself this spring as one of the more talented guards in Kentucky's Class of 2027.

[program_tooltip program_id='2078374' first='Full' last='Package'] Black ran out of gas on Sunday after grinding through the weekend with a small roster. However, despite the quarterfinal exit, Moffett proved himself as one of the best prospects at the Grit Region Finals. The 6'5" wing from Fremd High School has excellent positional size and can really shoot it from beyond the arc. His size allows him to be a matchup problem for defenders as well when he attacks closeouts and looks to finish inside. Moffett was the standout in multiple games for [program_tooltip program_id='2078374' first='Full' last='Package'] Black not only displaying his shot-making ability, but also contributing as a rebounder and facilitator.

Rue was the star of a talented backcourt for The Academy Blue as they went on an impressive run to the Final Four of the Grit Region Finals. The Plymouth High School standout was a two-way force on the perimeter consistently getting downhill to finish at the rim and living in the passing lanes to force turnovers that led to fast break scoring opportunities. We watched him play on Friday night where he scored 15 points and then again on Sunday in bracket play where he once again led the way for The Academy Blue. Definitely one to watch in the state of Michigan.

We had the opportunity to watch Watkins play two games during his excellent weekend at the Prep Hoops Circuit Grit Region Finals. He was the best player on the floor in both games. The versatile 6'2" guard was especially impressive in Basketball Paradise's quarterfinal win over [program_tooltip program_id='2078374' first='Full' last='Package'] Black on Sunday. He did a little bit of everything in the that contest finishing with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Watkins shot it in from three-point range, knocked in some pull-up jump shots, used his athleticism to get to the rim, and was disruptive defensively as well. The Metea Valley High School prospect was one of the most impressive individual players at the event.
