NorCal Spring Showcase 17u Prospect Watch

PH NorCal spent Saturday May 10 at Chabot College for the Spring Showcase. This was an all Northern California event which brought out plenty of up and coming prospects. Our focus is on the lesser known prospects who could see their stock rise with a good Spring of basketball.    He's a threat to knock down 3-pointers whenever he's in range. No forces within the flow of the offense. He sets up in all the rights spots, shot ready for catch and shoot 3's. He moves without the ball, uses his screens, finds open spots, he had a few back door cuts from over play. He's a ball mover, will help rebound.     He's a long wiry type, probably still growing with a frame to fill. He has an improving skill set. He's known to spot up looking to shoot 3's. We're seeing the jab step with two dribbles to get into his mid-range jump shot. He's driving it to the rim getting through traffic. He has the size, body and movement to be a good defender and rebounder.     He's a good all around guard. He has the vision and passing to get the ball up court and around the perimeter. He has the ability to knock down 3's from different spot, using a screen or coming down in transition. He can navigate his way into the lane for paint points.     Clark's ready for a break out Spring based on what we saw Saturday. He's strong, has good hops, can play physical. He's contributing on both sides of the court. He consistently drove the paint for strong finishes from different angles. He hit the 3-point shot, had good lift going up to get rebounds. Finishes strong in transition, If there's a clear path he'll dunk it. His stock could go up.     A good size guard standing 6'3. He's a newcomer who has some tools to work with. A good ball handler who uses his body, along with balance to get to his spots, and into the paint, he has a floater. He has a clean jump shot from mid-range out past the 3-point line. He's a rebounding guard who can get it and go, he'll pass it up. He'll finish at the rim in transition. We'll see more.     One of many quality point guards in NorCal. He's an experienced prospect who's shown the consistency. He's an excellent passer who can deliver passes to any position. He has nice passes into the post, lobs, and bounces. He pushes fast in transition. He has the dribble drive paint jumper thats hard to stop, he gets into the paint regularly. He'll get steals with his alertness, jumping the passing lanes.     He's a tough minded prospect who gives good effort on both sides of the ball. He'll scrap for loose balls, at 6'0 he'll battle bigger players. He's an excellent shooter from the 3-point line, he'll drop long ones if he has time to line it up. He'll make shots late in the game. He has good anticipation on defense to get steals, and pass it up.     A solid combo guard, but does a good job of running the point. He'll look to get others involved with quality passing. He has the vision to find cutters to the basket, and shooters spotting up around the perimeter after he drives looking for kick-outs, and dump offs to the post. Off ball he has good balance and strong moves going to the basket. He squares up with a jab step, he can hit the paint jumper, uses a nice spin move to get closer     He's a confident shooting guard with good movement without the ball finding open space, and shot ready. He'll spot up in the corners for catch and shoot 3's. He'll run wide to hit transition 3's. He's a good ball handler can run point if needed, he'll penetrate for floaters, and paint jumpers. He'll make big shots when the team needs one.     A good ball handling point guard, pass first who can settle a team in the half-court. He keeps his dribble live up top. He has the vision to see cutters, he'll feed the post. He has the leverage with handles to get into the paint, turning the corner at times. He's got a floater, put it's high off the glass. He can hit a long 3 on occasion.
