NHR State Tournament: 10 Early Standout 13U-14U Prospects

Prep Hoops Next is stationed at Shakopee High School this weeekend to scout the talent the Prep Hoops Next NHR State Tournament has to offer. There are still some top 14U and 13U teams I need to see live, but for what I did see live, here are 10 of the key standout names that first come to mind when looking at the tournament's prospects.    Gant immediately pops out to you with his positional size and length at his age. The 2030 point guard for [program_tooltip program_id='2075672' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] 13U-Greene stands at an easy six-feet tall with a solid build as well. In the game I saw, things were a little too easy to give a full evaluation because he wasn't met with much resistance in doing what he wanted to do. He showed he could be a two-level scorer by finishing at the rim and he also showed 3-point making ability. His ability to see the floor and deliver passes for buckets was also a key takeaway.     Running with [program_tooltip program_id='2859102' first='Hoop' last='Habits Elite'] 13U-1, Graham is around 6'5” as a 13U prospect, so that obviously sets him apart and will garner him attention whether he can play or not. I do think that he has a chance to turn out to be something. He doesn't move poorly and he has some coordination to him. He's able to catch the ball cleanly and score at the rim if there isn't too much resistance from defenders.     I like Gray and his potential and upside as he matures. He's with [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2030 3SSB. He has some solid size as a wing at around the six-foot mark as a 13U prospect. He's not a noticeably twitchy athlete, but I think when his motor matures some — his skill, length, and athleticism will standout more. He showed a smooth and accurate 3-point stroke as well.     I think Ezra translates to a long wing that will be able to space the floor at a high level like he did on Saturday. He connected on multiple threes in the first half in the game I saw. He's already at the 6'2” mark as a 13U prospect, so it's definitely not out of the question for him to be a long 6'7”-6'8” floor-spacing wing or 4-man.     Jerrell was one of my favorite prospects from the NHR State Tournament so far. I think he offers possibly the most upside of anyone at the tournament. He has the blend of size, skill, and playstyle that are good to see in a promising young prospect. He's with [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2030 3SSB and they just blew-out PJ Hoops Jr EYBL 13U, and Washington was the main reason why. He'll be one to watch tomorrow when the games really start gaining importance.     Henry was a little quieter shooting the ball from three than I had hoped, but you can still see the boatload of upside that he offers as a 6'2” 13U wing prospect. He has [program_tooltip program_id='2859102' first='Hoop' last='Habits Elite'] 13U 2-0 right now and I'll be watching Hanzel tomorrow to see if he can turn up things offensively. The skill and shooting stroke are definitely there, he just hasn't gotten them to fall quite yet.     I only saw Tumelo briefly but he showed himself quickly. He's a 14U prospect for [program_tooltip program_id='2076003' first='West' last='Central United'] Select 14U and he's a point guard with a solid profile of adequate size, skill and toughness.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/spencer_c3scout/status/1928866617410118052?s=61 </div></figure>     This is my second tournament seeing Maijor live, as he was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for Prep Hoops Brawl For The Ball. At the NHR State Tournament [program_tooltip program_id='2430295' first='Flight' last='701'] out of North Dakota came out with a massive upset Friday night after upending PJ Hoops Jr EYBL 13U in a game that got close down to the wire. Maijor was crucial late in the game, getting to the free throw line at least three times late, making some clutch free throws to seal the victory.     Archer is probably in the 6'3” range as a pure BIG for [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2030 3SSB that can run the floor and plays with extreme toughness. He has a great size and physical mentality that makes him tough to handle in the 13U division. Time will tell on what type of prospect he rounds out to be, because I think he would need to reach an elite height for high-level consideration.     Logan may not be considered a high-end D1 prospect when it's all said and done, but he's a player that gets it done on the court at a high level and with extreme efficiency. I saw about a game and a half of him and [program_tooltip program_id='2859102' first='Hoop' last='Habits Elite'] 14U-1, and I don't think I saw more than one error from Flesch. He has a well-rounded profile as a lefty 3-point threat, a downhill at-the-rim scorer, efficient and clean distributor of the ball, and he also has quick and anticipatory defensive hands that turn into transition opportunities.
