Grit Region Finals: Sunday’s 2028 Rising Stars

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>PHI was in attendance for the third and final day of hoops on Sunday which meant the continuation of bracketed play for teams. I had the chance to be in Northbrook, IL evaluating the 15U division. There were some really competitive endings to these games which made the day even more enticing to be in attendance. Could get to the rack consistently off the bounce through traffic. Fundamentally was sound when gaining pressure from D. Nice passer who will look to post feed in the 1/2 court setting or pitch ahead for open guys in transition. Splashed in a couple 3's with one going off the bounce using a ball screen and couple other catch and shoots. Footwork looks good. Did a good job of positioning and spacing away from help defenders for dish offs in the paint. Majority of his work was done in that setting and he finished with 14 in the team's morning game. Today was no different than yesterday scoring 19 in the semi-finals. Very versatile with the basketball. Shares it consistently well off of turnovers or D boards and pushes it ahead to teammates. A solid finisher in transition. Great court vision. Was at times playing the 1 - 4 roles depending on schemes. From the elbow on the catch made a cool spin move off dribble for an And1. Cut to the basket on an EOB set for a quick deuce. Really takes advantage of a defender getting off balance. Slippery driver with quick handles going off hesitations, in and outs, and crossovers to get to the cup. Head is on a swivel still looking for cutters or dish offs once in the paint. Made a couple no looks once defense committed. Well off natural feel for the game and a nifty player to watch. Got to see him twice due to team making it the semi-finals today. Caught rhythm early converting on multiple takes to the rim. Had 12 in the first half and 10 more in the second for a game high 22. Pushes the ball off defensive boards. Will spray it out from inside. Plays with his back to the basket at times showing great footwork and really knows how to use his body to his advantage. Made a cool O board then behind the back pass to a cutter for assist.
