ANAHEIM — We closed out our spring club basketball coverage with a stop at the annual Compton Magic Memorial Day tournament hosted at Open Gym Premier in Anaheim. There was a large contingent of Southern California programs in attendance in addition to teams from Arizona, Northern California and other west coast states. Below we take a look at the 16u wings, forwards and centers who stood out Friday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815162' first='Carson' last='Butler'] | 2027 | Compton Magic

Butler has the potential to be a breakout prospect in SoCal's 2027 class. The 6-foot-7 forward played junior varsity in the loaded Eastvale Roosevelt program and has shown flashes of upside this spring with Compton Magic. Butler is a mobile four-man in transition with good vertical pop and touch around the rim. With continued development and playing time, Butler is a prospect to keep on the Division I radar over the next two seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer'] | 2028 | Compton Magic

Palmer is tracking as the next good big man out of Arizona. The 6-foot-8 freshman out of Chandler high school is a highly-skilled prospect who can stretch the floor off the catch to the three-point line and has traditional back to the basket feel and touch on the block. Palmer isn't a great vertical athlete but does have a high IQ when it comes to positional, help-side and rebounding instincts.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194707' first='Jordyn' last='Houston'] | 2027 | Open Gym Premier

Houston is a versatile offensive skill-set complete with the ability to create for himself and others off the bounce at 6-feet-6. The sophomore has an intriguing combination of size, mobility, athleticism and physicality that makes him an effective inside-out scoring threat. Houston can knock down three's off the catch and can drive his way to the rim where he can power through contact.

Nick Welch, Jr. | 2027 | Compton Magic

Welch is a highly-productive player because of his ability to score in a traditional way on the block. The 6-foot-9 forward/center has been well-schooled on interior footwork, how to gain post position, and a variety of different finishes, including an efficient jump hook.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436271' first='Terron' last='Williams'] | 2027 | Cali Gold

Williams has some throwback feel to his game when it comes to him being a physical interior scorer despite him only standing 6-feet-5. The Bishop Montgomery sophomore is in constant attack mode either when he gets a touch in face-up situations or when crashing the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. Williams' seeks out contact and physicality and uses his strong frame to score at the rim.

Tony Rutledge | 2027 | Coastal Elite

Rutledge is an interesting prospect who jumped on our radar earlier this spring and has shown continuous production and improvement since. The 6-foot-4 wing is best as a transition slasher and finisher who uses his length, balanced athleticism and body control to glide through the paint and finish at the rim. Rutledge's combination of length and lateral speed makes him a versatile defender at the high school level.

[player_tooltip player_id='2545966' first='Tyler' last='Treder'] | 2028 | Gamepoint

Treder has advanced fundamentals when it comes to his interior scoring package. The 6-foot-7 center is a fluid finisher out of ball screen action who can catch, gather and score with either hand around the rim. Treder is also a big who practices fundamental footwork and shot fakes around the rim while also being a smart passer out of his high and low post touches.
