SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — JSerra hosted Pasadena last Wednesday in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff field and the Lions needed an extra four minutes to overcome the Bulldogs and extend their season by another few days. JSerra earned a 72-66 overtime win over Pasadena and below are the top performers from that game.

Best Scorer(s): [player_tooltip player_id='1956616' first='Jaden' last='Bailes'], JSerra | [player_tooltip player_id='1956467' first='Timmy' last='Anderson'], Pasadena

On Bailes: The 6-foot-2 guard combo guard has been of the "wired-to-score" category since he entered high school and nothing has changed throughout the course of his prep career. The Seattle University-signee led all scorers with 21 points with four three-pointers and knocked down a clutch left-corner triple with a minute to go in overtime to secure momentum late for JSerra. Bailes is a shot creator off the bounce who makes difficult buckets look easy.

On Anderson: The 5-foot-10 point guard is a crafty three-level scorer whose ability to knock down deep off-catch three-point shots sets up his savvy driving and finishing in the paint. Anderson makes up for a lack of size and explosive vertical athleticism with his giant-killing floater and quick scoop layups that nullify shot blockers. Anderson finished with 20 points in his final high school game that saw him score more than 3,000 points over the course of his four-year career.

Best Shot Blocker: [player_tooltip player_id='2425762' first='Josh' last='Irving'], Pasadena

Irving earns the best shot blocker tag in just about any game he plays in - that's how good of a rim protector he is. The 6-foot-10 center has every physical and athletic tool that the next levels look for and he uses them to his advantage when challenging, altering and blocking shots around the basket. The Texas A&M-signee blocked five shots in this game, and altered countless more, with his uncanny combination of length, vertical athleticism, timing and quick first jump.

Best Supporting Perfomance(s): [player_tooltip player_id='2435392' first='Earl' last='Bryson'], JSerra | Derek Jordan, Pasadena

On Bryson: The 6-foot-2 point guard used his combination of strength, physicality, speed and aggressiveness in transition to put the Pasadena defense on its heels and allowed him to get to the rim and to the free throw line. Bryson pitched in 12 points and went 5-for-5 from the free throw line with four of those coming in a tight game in the fourth quarter. Bryson also spent time guarding every perimeter position on the floor.

On Jordan: The 6-foot-5 senior forward brought an energy to the Bulldogs that provided a couple much-needed sparks throughout the game. Jordan's interior strength and finishing ability allowed him to score through contact in the lane and track down multiple offensive rebounds. He finished with 10 points on the night, including two and-one finishes.

The Skilled Big Men: [player_tooltip player_id='2750220' first='Ryan' last='Doane'], JSerra | [player_tooltip player_id='2425762' first='Josh' last='Irving'], Pasadena

On Doane: Doane has grown up a lot over the course of this season and his skill is just the beginning of what makes him such an intriguing prospect. The 6-foot-8 forward has great perimeter touch on his mid-range and three-point shots in face-up and off-catch situations while his ball skills and mobility allow him to handle, create and make decisions in dribble hand-off and ball screen action. Doane finished with 15 points in the win over Pasadena.

On Irving: The 6-foot-10 center has steadily progressed each season and has become one of the most dominant rim protectors on the west coast as we mentioned above. Aside from the obvious defensive tools, Irving's offensive development is something to touch on as well as he has graduated from rim-runner and lob finisher to a player who can step out on the three-point line and knock down catch-and-shoot threes. Irving knocked down three triples and had 19 points in the loss.
