Bash in the Desert 16U 1st Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>May 2nd-4th I attended the annual&nbsp;<strong>Bash in the Desert</strong>&nbsp;at the Phhacility and Cortez HS locations. It had exactly 60 teams total and I watched almost every team in 17U and 16U and some of the 15U teams to form a good opinion of the field.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched 14 of the 18 16U teams and</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here is my 1st team&nbsp;<strong>All-Individual Teams</strong>&nbsp;for 16U:&nbsp;</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146267' first='Micah' last='Andrews'] Deer Valley (Peak National 16)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive point guard has some of the quickest hands and feet in the class plus he is one of the faster end to end. He will score with blow-by's past his initial defender almost at will and will rise up from mid-range off the dribble. He will drive and kick perfectly into a shooting pocket and rebounds well with his next level bounce.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2856000' first='Akino' last='Drake'] Dobson (AZ Select 16 Dev 16 Silver)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A newcomer for me is a bucket. The lefty can shoot off the catch or pull from mid to the three point line. He will blow past his defender and use a crow hop which is tough to defend with his speed. He gets hot from the field and he is quick on the ball defensively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2430652' first='Kendyn' last='Grant'] Dream City Christian (Peak National 16)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive minded point guard. He will score with mid-range jumpers off the dribble and he can create his own separation off the dribble. He will hit the catch three and puts a lot of pressure on the defense. He has good open court speed to jet past his opponents.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2295694' first='Ben' last='Gruver'] Casteel (AZ Select 16 Dev 16 Silver)&nbsp;(Pictured) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring combo guard is a really good passer threading the needle who plays off of two feet. He will score with mid-range pull-ups and bursts to the basket with his longer strides. He seems like he keeps growing and has a deceptively quick first step and gets on the glass to score on put backs with his length.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146237' first='Jeremiah' last='Haslerig'] Centennial ([program_tooltip program_id='2144495' first='Team' last='Elevate'] 16)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long guard/wing with size. He is another that seems to grow every viewing. He is competitive on defense using his size and length to tip passes and balls away from his opponents in bunches. He rebounds well in his area and he will even block shots. He will score with fall aways in the paint amd often gets a step on his defender to the basket or gets his points in transition.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2407206' first='Cameron' last='Hurt'] Pinnacle (Peak National 16)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true point guard with great pace and defensive instincts. He will rebound at a good clip and then pass the ball up the court on a rope. He will also slip it in the middle of traffic and drive and kick it with either hand. He is quick in the passing lanes and will block shots showing some bounce. He can hit the catch three and he has incredible speed in the open court.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2574812' first='Sadeek' last='Noah'] Bella Vista Prep (Team Supreme 16)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long forward is fluid and athletic. He handles the ball well and moves well in space to defend. He plays off of the pick and roll game and he is super graceful on the break with the ball in his hands. He will score with quick jab steps and rise up plus he has a clean release from the three point line. He will block shots, rebound and dunks the ball easily on the break.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
