These defenders came to play and they didn't just show up, they showed out. From lockdown perimeter coverage to dominant paint presence, they were the anchors that kept their teams in the fight. If you're into gritty, high-energy defense that turns stops into momentum, you'll want to see how these guys made all the difference.

Ascherl was everywhere on the court and his size made a huge impact. He had opponents second guessing their shots or kicking it back out, just to avoid him. In the paint, he was a force where he was blocking shots, getting hands on passes, and shutting all things down inside. If the shot didn't fall Ascherl was right there to snag the rebound and push the ball up the floor, getting his team moving in transition. He was easily the best player on the court at all times

Ferrera was a total mismatch for anyone trying to guard him on Friday. His size was tough to deal with, and he completely took over the paint. Every time there was a defensive chance, he went up strong and made his presence known. On the boards, he was a beast—pulling down rebounds left and right and making it look easy. Ferrera was able to keep opponents off their game and controlled the pace of play inside the paint

VanOcker was a defensive menace and made things tough for anyone he was guarding. He didn't get beat, he always stayed right in front of his guy, no matter what. His footwork was on point, especially when navigating through screens, and he had quick changes of direction that kept him locked in. When the ball went up, VanOcker knew exactly what to do he boxed out hard and went up strong to grab the rebound. His defensive positioning kept him in control at all times

Medrano brought the physicality on defense and it showed all game long. His length and long arms made it tough for anyone to get by him to the rim or even get a clean jump shot off. When it came to athleticism, he's got bounce and can jump out of the gym. No matter where he was on the floor, if there was a rebound up for grabs, Medrano was getting it. He'd sky over everyone, grab the board, and get his team rolling the other way

Bittel was all over the place for his team on Friday, but his defense really stole the show. He had quick hands all game, racking up at least four steals and turning them into easy buckets on the other end. His athleticism was on full display, and he stayed locked in on his matchup from start to finish. What really stood out though, was the pressure he put on his opponents constantly forcing them into bad decisions and turnovers just by being relentless

Villagrana put on a show Friday night, especially on the defensive end. He made quick adjustments on the fly and didn't let anyone get easy looks at the rim. In the pick-and-roll, he played it super smart always making the right read, whether it was sticking with the ball handler or switching off to the cutter. When it came to boards, he was cleaning things up, grabbing defensive rebounds and getting his team out in transition in a hurry
