Ascherl was everywhere on the court and his size made a huge impact. He had opponents second guessing their shots or kicking it back out, just to avoid him. In the paint, he was a force where he was blocking shots, getting hands on passes, and shutting all things down inside. If the shot didn’t fall Ascherl was right there to snag the rebound and push the ball up the floor, getting his team moving in transition. He was easily the best player on the court at all times

Ascherl was a dominant presence in the paint, using his size and length to control the glass and get some second chance opportunities. Defensively, he clogged the lane and altered nearly every shot he contested. In the second game, he was simply unstoppable, finishing with a double-double, topping 20 points and grabbing over 10 rebounds.
