#PHMidwestShowdown: Max’s Night One Standouts

The 2028 guard was playing up a year at the 16u level, and was an absolute pest on the ball, constantly applying pressure to opposing point guards. He must have ended the game with at least five steals, and he showed quick hands to pick his moments to reach in and win the ball, while also moving well laterally to consistently cut his man off. The 6'2 wing has a long and lanky frame, with an impressive wingspan that allowed him to block/alter shots, while also getting up in passing lanes and making things difficult out on the perimeter. In a game that was tight the entire way, the 2028 guard took over with a flurry of buckets late in the game, showcasing good body control to get to the rim and finish in traffic. Quickness allowed him to contribute to an intense defensive effort that was looking to trap/force turnovers consistently. The 6'8 wing has some impressive fluidity and handle out on the perimeter, able to make plays that other guys his size simply can't. Showed touch on his outside jumper, and also dribbled into a tough turnaround jumper along the baseline that he made look easy. He also possesses the toughness to utilize his 6'8 frame and simply get to the rim. The 6' point guard did a great job of handling the ball under pressure against a group of scrappy guards, and was consistently able to penetrate and get two feet in the paint. Once there he had the vision and accuracy to kick it out to his shooters, often for wide open looks from three. He's a long and explosive 6'4 wing who does a great job of playing off two feet around the basket. Showed no fear going right at a 6'8 defender for some strong finishes inside, and was able to convert from some difficult angles with his left hand. Showcased more wiggle off the dribble than I knew he had as well, allowing him to blow by defenders in the half-court. The 6'1 guard out of Eagan is a sharpshooter from three, who can catch fire at any given moment. That included a few threes late in the second half, that helped take his team from down 12 early, to leading 30-29 at the break. He showed no shortage of confidence to catch and shoot from well beyond the arc, and when he's on, he's someone who can really spread the floor for his team as his range extends to way past the high school three point line.
