The Grassroots Season is here! I was back on the road this weekend for the first two days of the Phenom Hoops Grassroots Tip Off Classic in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It was an action-packed slate featuring some of South Carolina's most talented prospects and best teams. Take a look at these six 2027s that stood out from the Phenom Hoops Grassroots Tip Off Classic.

First up on my list of 2027 Standouts from the Phenom Grassroots TOC [player_tooltip player_id='1731675' first='John' last='Cleveland']. Cleveland was playing with Play Tough 843 this weekend in Rock Hill, and he came alive in the second half of their early morning matchup with Team Pittman - a team that was undefeated in Phenom play coming into the day. The aggressiveness switch was flipped on over the last 16 minutes, leading to him getting in the paint and finishing often. Cleveland favors a spin move when attacking the rim and he has good feet overall. John finished with 10 points in the win.

Justin is the first of three [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure'] players featured in this article and the lead guard for their 16U team. This squad has already had success this Spring, and Vining's performances have been a key reason why. I caught up with him in a matchup with 1 of 1 Elite which turned out to be an impressive win for CPB. Justin put up 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals, displaying key playmaking building around his ability to navigate traffic, penetrate a defense, find shooters on the perimeter, and finish with either hand at the basket.

Robinson is now with Puma's [program_tooltip program_id='2078724' first='Carolina' last='Pressure'], and he plays up an age group with their 17U group. However, RJ is still able to dominate the paint and does not look out of place from a physical perspective despite playing against a team of 2025s. He was active throughout the game by working in the post and on the glass. Robinson displayed good footwork, patience with the ball, and instincts for tracking down second chances. RJ posted 11 points and 7 rebounds in CPB's tournament opener.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674162' first='Tre' last='Green'] was a prospect I wasn't too familiar with coming into the weekend, but one that is squarely on my radar following a strong performance in Rock Hill. I watched Tre and Company in a battle of the Raptors: [program_tooltip program_id='2246675' first='Charleston' last='Raptors'] vs NC Raptors. He took over in the first half of the game, putting up 11 points including a deep three, a couple of scores in the paint, and a pair of trips to the free-throw line. Green's athleticism allows him to affect the game in several different areas on both ends of the floor.

Gavin is the third and final CPB prospect on this list and the second member of the 16U squad. He knocked down a pair of early threes that helped keep his team in the game after a slow start - a game they would go on to win late. Baskett has a solid, compact, stroke and he has decent size to play the 2 at this level. Gavin can make plays off the dribble when the defense is in rotation, including the assist on the go-ahead basket. He finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win over 1 of 1 Elite.

[player_tooltip player_id='2230456' first='Isaiah' last='Daniels']' performances drew rave reviews this weekend in Rock Hill. I got to check in with him late Saturday evening, and he put up 18 points in a win over TNBA South. In that game, Daniels had several highlight plays at the rim, showcasing some intriguing athleticism and strength. Isaiah handles it well on the wings, capable of driving with either hand when in attack mode. He will also be active off the ball on the offensive glass - both attributes that are needed to balance the offense.
