Class 5A Realignment Results

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>*Approved by the NIAA Board Of Control on April 2nd, 2025*</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There will now be 9 schools competing in 5A for the 2025-2026, 2026-2027, 2027-2028 seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Those schools are: Bishop Gorman, Desert Pines, Mojave, Coronado, Democracy Prep, Arbor View, Centennial, Sierra Vista, and Liberty.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Silverado, Las Vegas High School, Spring Valley, Foothill and Durango are all due to move to 4A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Now that there will only be 9 schools competing, it was also proposed that each 5A team makes the playoffs. With that being the case, it seems as though there will be a "play-in" like game between the #8 and #9 seeds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It will be interesting to see how Democracy Prep and Sierra Vista do, however they have both scheduled tough non-conference games this year against 5A schools. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Democracy Prep managed to take down Mojave back in January by a score of 74-72 in double overtime.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While Sierra Vista beat Coronado 74-70 on January 31st.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Democracy Prep will likely have a similar roster to last seasons. As they should have [player_tooltip player_id='1529852' first='Josiah' last='Stroughter'], Deshaun Harris, [player_tooltip player_id='1529853' first='Tai' last='Coleman'], [player_tooltip player_id='2434274' first='Elizjah' last='Scott'], [player_tooltip player_id='1965364' first='Dion' last='Parker'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2634164' first='Jayden' last='Howard'] all back, </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sierra Vista on the other hand will be almost a completely different team. Since they have 7 seniors from the 4A Championship team graduating. However they will have [player_tooltip player_id='2633812' first='Tristian' last='Porter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1965124' first='Jayvion' last='Wall'] back. Which might end up being their starting backcourt if I had to guess. But there could always be transfers on the way, now that they're 5A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
