Getting back to our series of returning underclassmen to watch we take a look at the Florida Class 2A championship game. The title game was won in a thrilling fashion, going down to the wire with Calvary narrowly escaping with a game winner that KJ Francis knocked down with 2.5 seconds remaining in the game. Francis will be returning to Calvary and here's a look at some other impact players that will help their teams build on the run they had this year and potentially meet up against next year in the playoffs.

Francis was in the right place at the right time rebounding the Abaev attempt and putting it in as the clock ticked down. Though he did not have a stat stuffed game finishing with six points and five rebounds, Francis was exactly what the team needed to close out this game and come out victorious. Bringing back that toughness next year and seeing an expanded role will serve both him and the team well as he knows not exactly what it takes to get back to the mountain top and come home with a win.

Paul almost finished with a double-double in the championship game totaling sixteen points and nine rebounds. The way he plays his game is larger than his measurements. A big guard who can mix it up in the post or stretch the floor on the wing, Paul also is a strong rebounder. Paul should see an even greater role next year as a focal point.

Daughtry is already one of the best 2027 prospects at the guard spot. Finishing with a game high 23 points, that included 7-7 from the free throw line and 2-5 from deep, Daughtry was able to lead his team and make sure they will be ready for next year as he will be chasing another championship in 3A.

Britt was matched up against Daughtry for most of the game and the 2027 battle of the guards was one that will be fun to see grow in the coming years. Britt finished with 14 in this game but he showed a strong basketball IQ involving his teammates and knowing when to also pick his areas to take over and score. Watching his game expand over the next few seasons will be interesting as he may have an opportunity to jump up the list of best guards in the state.

Though Bernard did not stuff the stat sheet, you could see his impact on his team and the game. He was moving well without the ball and drawing defenders for his team to operate in more space. His feel for the game was on full display and in the coming seasons, he will certainly be a name to keep an eye on as his role will grow and his impact will become even greater if Villages hopes to return to the championship in the future.
