In perhaps the most anticipated second round matchup across the entire state, Philly power Roman Catholic absolutely blitzed past defending state champ Central York in one of the more dominant displays you'll see against any type of competitive opponent. Junior swingman [player_tooltip player_id='1406768' first='Sammy' last='Jackson'] led the way with 30 points, with senior guard Sebastian Edwards adding 24 and sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='2195052' first='Tyler' last='Sutton'] chipping in 21 with 9 assists.

Leading the onslaught was the play of Jackson, a jumbo wing guard already being courted by a plethora of high-major programs. Jackson got himself going attacking the rim, using his polished handle and increasingly sturdy frame to navigate to his spots and finish under control among traffic. He would later toss in a trio of spotup 3s plus an alley oop slam to cap a 22-point first half that saw Roman enter the locker room up by nearly 30. Another alley oop near the end of the 3rd would end his night at 30 points, offering a glimpse of what Jackson can be when consistently aggressive.

Playing a near-perfect game at the point, Sutton displayed the blend of natural talent and evolving savvy that place him among the elite lead guards in his class nationally. Sutton pushed seemingly every right button, facilitating the offense expertly en route to an essentially mistake-free nine assists, many of which led directly to layups or open 3s. In typical fashion, he was dynamic turning defense to offense with at least 5 steals leading to a series of fastbreak buckets. Continuing a theme from the back half of the season, Sutton also showed his improved perimeter jumper with a trio of confident 3s. It was obvious to anyone looking on why the classic Philly guard has already attracted numerous high-major offers.

Playing a stellar complementary game in support of Jackson and Sutton outside and [player_tooltip player_id='1188620' first='Shareef' last='Jackson'] on the interior, Edwards was confident and efficient while capitalizing on a number of clean catch-and-shoot attempts and streaking layups. With a confident high release, he consistently relocated to open space and elevated over closing defenders for smooth jumpers. He contributed to a stifling Roman defense to help spark transition opportunities which he cashed in at the rim, before flashing his individual scoring ability on a couple second half drives. Edwards has always had natural scoring ability, but his emerging frame and growing confidence have him ascending further onto scholarship radars.

Helping establish Roman's dominance early on was the play up front of Jackson, who set the tone with his effort and physicality in the post and on the glass. As has become expected over the course of a standout four-year career, the skilled and high-IQ post carved out space with regularity before finishing with a unique blend of power and touch. Jackson also showed his IQ and passing feel with a series of high-level dimes to cutters out of the high post. The tenor of the game didn't require a fully dominant individual effort, but still offered a window into the value Jackson will bring to the Patriot League for Lafayette.

The standout for Central York in the lopsided defeat was easily the play of Rill, who came out aggressive and never stopped competing until his curtain call with a couple minutes to play. A recent commit to PSAC stalwart Shippensburg, the lefty post opened the game showing off his improved stroke from beyond the arc with a pair of 3s in the opening quarter. He would go on to establish himself down low with a gritty effort against a sizable Roman frontcourt. Rill would finish with 14 points in the final game of an accomplished high school career.
