STUDIO CITY — Two of the state's top teams met in a win or go home CIF State Open Division playoff game Wednesday night with the host Wolverines coming away with a 70-55 win. Harvard-Westlake moves on to a marquee Saturday semifinal matchup with St. Joseph of Santa Maria. Below are the top performers from this game.

Jones has been an x-factor type of player for the Wolverines this season in the sense that, when he is knocking down open shots, the team is tough to beat. Wednesday proved that theory to be true as the 6-foot-2 junior point guard knocked down four three-pointers and all four of his free throws in the fourth quarter to tally 20 points on the night. Jones' ability to hit open three's off the catch made it difficult for the Bosco defense to focus in on stopping the Harvard-Westlake duo of Khamenia and Sterling.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131779' first='Brandon' last='McCoy'], Jr. | 2026 | St. John Bosco

McCoy scored a team-high 21 points on a night where Harvard-Westlake's defense was dialed in and suffocating. The 6-foot-4 wing is one of the best slashers and finishers in the state and used his combination of size, length, athleticism and physicality to get to the rim and finish through contact in transition and half-court offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630659' first='Isaiah' last='Carroll'] | 2025 | Harvard-Westlake

Carroll's stat line didn't tell the whole story on his impact in this game. The 6-foot-6 wing finished with "quiet" seven points and seven rebounds but it was his versatility and basketball IQ on both ends of the floor that earned him a spot on this list. Carroll, who is one of the top unsigned seniors in the state, is a switchable defender, 1 through 5, at the high school level because of his understanding of positioning along with his size, length and athleticism. What always stands out about Carroll is his willingness to talk on the defensive end. He did a fantastic job of limiting the impact of USC-bound guard [player_tooltip player_id='1630620' first='Elzie' last='Harrington'].

[player_tooltip player_id='1956504' first='Joe' last='Sterling'] | 2026 | Harvard-Westlake

Sterling's jump shooting prowess - both off the catch and off the dribble - were on full display as he finished with a game-high 23 points, including five three-pointers. The 6-foot-4 point guard showed his ability to create space from his defender with his ball skills and pace but also used his off-ball movement to get clean looks at the rim. The most impressive part of Sterling's game was his ability to not get sped up by the Bosco pressure, which seemed focused in on trying to get the junior out of his comfort zone. Sterling stayed poised, moved the ball without over-dribbling and allowed the game to come to him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630618' first='Nik' last='Khamenia'] | 2025 | Harvard-Westlake

Khamenia put together one of the best all-around games that I have seen live this season. The 6-foot-8 Duke-bound McDonald's All-American selection scored 15 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed seven rebounds to help keep Harvard-Westlake's state championship three-peat bid alive. Khamenia was controlled in his approach to the offensive end as his combination of size, point-forward skill-set and basketball IQ allow him to create for himself and teammates on the perimeter and in mid and low-post situations. Khamenia drew extra defenders and delivered on-time and on-target passes to open teammates.
