DCSAA Middle School Championship Report 2

The second part of the DCSAA Middle School Championship will take a look at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic that's located in SE Washington, DC. The Eagles program has a strong history of having some of the top players to come out of there program. One name to come of the program is Jordan Smith who is one of the Top 5 players in the 2026 class nationally. This talented St. Francis Xavier team boasts several standout players, whose contributions have been pivotal to their success. Among these young talents are Dylan Higginbotham, Landon Drive, Luke Richards, and Elijah Byrd, each of whom has shown glimpses of varsity potential in their future.    Carmelo is a promising young point guard (PG) currently in the 7th grade at St. Francis Xavier School. Known for his quickness and agility on the court, Carmelo has already made a name for himself as a standout player among his peers. His ability to navigate through defenses with ease and his sharp decision-making skills make him an asset to his team.     Sleek lefty PG. Got a little frustrated when things are not going his way. Shot wasn't falling, but he showed his overall talented all-around guard throughout the game. Impressing the crowds with several quick crossover and spin moves to score at the rim finishing and making sound decisions the ball. Known for his 3pt shooting ability. Shot was off in the championship game.     Solid young wing. Plays the passing lanes. Smooth two-way guard. Possesses multiple moves off the dribble. Smooth movement up/down the floor. Scores with the offhand well in transition. Ability to score at the rim with either hand.     Elijah is a fundamentally sound wing player standing at 5-11 and currently in the 8th grade at St. Francis Xavier Middle School. Known for his solid fundamentals, Elijah has demonstrated his ability to step out and hit the 15–17-foot jumper off the catch or dribble1. His consistent performance made him invaluable to his team.     Skilled young wing. Comfortable handling the ball out in space. Smooth looking prospect. Has the look to project to be a solid guard prospect on the High school level with continue improvement on his ball handling and perimeter shooting.     Isaiah is a promising young player currently in the 7th grade at St. Francis Xavier Middle School. Versatility on the court was noticeable. His ability to play both inside and outside makes him intriguing prospect. Isaiah's long, wiry frame allows him to be effective in various positions, contributing both offensively and defensively. Has the look of being productive once his gets stronger and play with more confidence. As a developing player, Isaiah has demonstrated significant potential and is definitely one to keep an eye on in the coming seasons. His versatility and physical attributes position him well for future success in basketball.
