-Higginbotham was vital to Gonzaga’s success this season as a twitchy slashing guard that proved that he can create at a high level for himself and teammates. Love the pace that he played with as he often retreat dribbled or hit his matchup with a crossover to create better driving angles coming off of screens. He’s one of the elite scorers from 18′ and in without needing a screen or a play drawn up to get to his spots— but he showed that he can perform at a high level within structure in Gonzaga’s offensive schemes. We expect a big summer out of him with Team Takeover ‘s 15u group.

Dylan Higginbotham is the type of young point guard who showed throughout the game that he was ready for the “SMOKE”. He has the ball on a string along with eyes (seemingly) in the back of his head. The lefty, only freshman, played well beyond his years. He touched the paint often, not only that he was not afraid of the spotlight. In this high-end quarterfinal game, he knocks down the 3pt jumpers, pull-up and floaters to keep the Eagles in the game. The young freshman finishes the game with 19 points 8-17 from the field, 2-8 from the 3pt line, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

-Higganbotham moves up into our top 10 after several impactful 2-way performances for a Purple Eagles group that has put the area on notice with a 15-5 start to the year. Love his feel as a play-maker for his team in the halfcourt and transition that always keeps his head up to see potential passing options. He has also been productive when calling his own number, scoring the ball well from 18′ and in as a cat-quick guard that gets to the rim and FT line at a good clip for a prospect in this stage. His team will have two big tests in the next week, with games against the WCAC’s top 2 seeds with a road game against PVI and a home game against DC Rival St. John’s.

-Liked the flashes that I saw from Higganbotham as a southpaw lead guard that can be successful both on or off the ball. He brings the toughness from the football field onto the hardwood as a PG prospect that is more physical than he looks, absorbing and dishing out contact on drives to the rim to bully his matchup off their spots. He’s especially adept in quick reads in tight gaps, thriving in chaos in ways that most freshman would shy away from. 9 points on 3 shots, playing limited minutes in a blowout win was a great first impression as he starts out his HS career.

Such a poised, intelligent floor general as a freshman. Showed in his official first varsity game. He displays a tight handle with amazing pace, vision, and change of direction. The southpaw is effortlessly getting wherever he wants off the bounce and making the right play with consistency. Dyan has the potential to continue the Gonzaga tradition of having Division 1guards come out of their program. In 20 minutes of play against Landon School Dylan finish the game with 11(4-7 2FG |1-3 3FG) pts, 3 assists, 2rebounds, 1 steal and 1 TO.
