ORANGE COUNTY — The last weekend of March marked the opening weekend of club basketball and individual showcase events across Southern California. We were in attendance at various events and below we detail the do-it-all guard standouts we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='2425687' first='Acen' last='Jimenez'] | 2026 | La Habra

Jimenez is another under-the-radar guard in the Southern California area who has shown the ability to create for himself and teammates, control the tempo of a game and put together explosive scoring performances when needed. The 6-foot-1 junior is a high IQ creator out of ball screen and isolation, is a willing passer on drive-and-kicks and hit-aheads in transition and can knock down perimeter jumpers both off the catch and off the bounce.

Amare Snipes | 2026 | Cardinal Hayes (NY)

Snipes was the surprise of the Pangos All-American Preview for me as the unassuming, glasses-wearing point guard flashed a high level understanding for the game and operated with IQ, patience and unselfishness in a setting that doesn't always breed that type of approach. Snipes was making good reads and accurate passes out of ball screens while also finding opportunities to showcase his smooth three-point shooting form.

Cooper Harris | 2027 | Timpanogos (UT)

Harris fits the mold of a consummate floor general in the way that he plays with great pace and unselfishness. The 6-foot point guard out of Utah showcased a simplicity and efficiency at the position when creating for teammates in transition and half-court offense. Harris is a savvy, timely and accurate passer who can also knock down perimeter jumpers off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750232' first='Luke' last='Paulus'] | 2028 | St. Francis

Paulus has some high level basketball genes and it shows in the high basketball IQ he brings to the point guard position. The 6-foot-1 freshman is the nephew of former Duke star and current Niagara coach Greg Paulus and, like his uncle, plays with a steady eye for playmaking, takes care of the basketball and has a quiet confidence and toughness about his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767780' first='Phillip' last='Reed'] | 2029 | Los Angeles

Reed was one of few non current high school prospects to make his imprint over the weekend. The 6-foot-1 soon-to-be ninth grader plays with a pace and poise with the ball in his hands that is well beyond his years. Reed uses his already strong frame to stay low and hold off defenders en route to paint touches and can also create for himself and others with finesse, craft and skill. Reed never gets sped up, doesn't over handle the basketball and doesn't try to do too much.

[player_tooltip player_id='1703073' first='Rodney' last='Westmoreland'] | 2026 | Santa Margarita

Westmoreland arrived at the Pangos All-American Preview after participating in a track meet and a club basketball game and still played with impactful effort, energy and playmaking. The 6-foot point guard is a blur with the ball in his hands in transition which allows him to blow by defenders for paint touches and score at the rim. Westmoreland was knocking down mid-range and three-point jumpers off the bounce with consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id='2484360' first='Tayshaun' last='Bozeman'] | 2028 | Team CPSA 16/Monterey Trail

Bozeman has the look as a Northern California playmaker that Division I programs should keep an eye on over the next three years. The 5-foot-10 point guard is lightning quick off the bounce and possesses an explosive burst on his first step and the ability to change speeds and direction quickly. Bozeman is an automatic paint touch who can slash his way to the rim and also knock down perimeter jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591734' first='TJ' last='Harris'] | 2026 | AZ Factory 17s/Liberty (AZ)

Harris has dynamic playmaking ability and a lot of his success in that is due to his combination of speed and ability to play under control while swiftly processing different reads that come his way. The 6-footer is really good in the mid-range area of the floor as he uses a quick crossover to get to his spots where he's comfortable pull-up for a jumper. He's also a smart passer and decision-maker in those spots, as well. Harris is high level defender as well as he uses his quick hands, lateral speed and toughness to contain and pressure opposing ball handlers.
