Class 1A Sectional 54 Quarterfinals - Six Standouts

We at Prep Hoops Indiana pride ourselves on covering the entire state better than anyone else. That means that we don't always go to the flashiest games each night. Instead, we look to unearth under-the-radar prospects and provide a platform to those who don't otherwise receive a ton of coverage elsewhere. That level of coverage was on full display on Wednesday night as we had eyes on Class 1A Sectional 54 at Clinton Central High School. Let's take a look at the two quarterfinal matchups and highlight six of the standout prospects from the evening.    A big, physical interior presence for Carroll (Flora) this 6'4" senior did his best to keep his team in the game against Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #3 Clinton Prairie. Falkenberg scored consistently around the basket showcasing his strength and sound footwork for his size, but it wasn't enough to advance passed the Gophers. The big man finished with 17 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Cougars.     The pure shooting ability of this senior guard has really given the Gophers a new dimension offensively this season. Farley ended up with 22 points to help Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #3 Clinton Prairie advanced to the Sectional 54 semifinals with a 64-40 victory over Carroll (Flora). Not only can Farley shoot the basketball, but he displayed some playmaking chops off of the dribble throughout the game as well.     McGraw has had a fantastic senior season for Clinton Prairie and is a big reason why they have a legitimate chance to get to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and cut down the nets. The 6'4" unsigned senior guard finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists on Wednesday night as the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #3 Gophers defeated rival Carroll (Flora) 64-40. He will be one for college programs to watch through the tournament.     It was Skiles who got the ball rolling for Rossville out of the gate. The 6'3" left-handed wing connected on a pair of three-point shots for the Hornets in the first quarter and scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half as Rossville built, and extended, their lead. His combination of size and shooting ability on the perimeter was too much for Bethesda Christian to handle.     The burst of athleticism and quick-twitch playmaking ability of this talented sophomore guard really stood out on Wednesday night. We've been aware of Thiele-Hahn for awhile already after he put up big numbers as a freshman, but this was a great opportunity to get eyes on him once again. He finished with a game-high 19 points to go along with 5 rebounds as Rossville defeated defending Class 1A state runner-up Bethesda Christian 53-43. The Hornets, now 16-8 on the season, will take on Prep Hoops Indiana Class 1A #3 Clinton Prairie on Friday in the Sectional 54 Semifinals.     Unfortunately, it wasn't the storybook ending that this talented senior wanted for his career. Tierney was a key piece of the Bethesda Christian team that advanced to the Class 1A State Final last season, but the Patriots were knocked out in round one this time around. The 6'2" guard averaged 22.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 steals per game, but finished with just nine points before fouling out on Wednesday night. He has a handful of small college opportunities and will look to continue his career at the next level.
