In case you missed the memo, [player_tooltip player_id='1604665' first='Isaiah' last='Koehnke'] is on the verge of making history. The high-scoring guard from Regis High School is really close to breaking Kevin Love's all-time state career points record, but talking to him he's stayed humble. The goal is to make it to the 2A state tournament on final time his senior year and he feels like the Rams have put in the time to get it done.

"I think as a team we've all been working really hard," Koehnke said. "We graduated two starters, and just encouraging people to step up and keep working, and like me too, it's really just been work all offseason. That's really there really has been to it."

Individually, Koehnke prepared himself for his final season of high school basketball. Always a tremendous shooter, he further refined his game - and his body - to get set to make an impact both individually and with the team.

"I'd say I mostly worked on getting bigger, faster, and stronger, that's where the biggest parts were," Koehnke said. "I mean, I'm always trying to improve my game too, but I really, I really hit it hard in the weight room this summer."

Other than help Regis reach the highest heights, the goals also included attracting the recruiting attention of college programs at the next level. That has been achieved - Koehnke has heard from schools like nearby Corban and other D-III Northwest Conference such as Willamette, Linfield, and Pacific - of which the Boxers recently offered him a roster spot. He's keeping things open. "I just want to play basketball," he said.

Regis hosts Grant Union on Saturday and while there's a chance Koehnke could break Kevin Love's career scoring record, the focus though is winning and getting to state. "I hope we just keep improving," he said.

Koehnke currently ranks as the #46 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2025 rankings.
