February's Weekly Standouts: Impact Seniors

This past week, several seniors across the state delivered standout performances, leading their teams with poise, skill, and determination. From seasoned guards controlling the floor to dominant forwards and centers imposing their will, these players have shown why they are among the most impactful seniors in Texas high school basketball.    Laczkowski's constant movement and relentless motor made him one of the toughest shot-makers to account for. His ability to run the floor and thrive in transition allowed him to find easy scoring opportunities in the secondary break, whether it was spotting up for corner threes or finishing at or above the rim. In the half-court, his knack for getting open without needing screens or set plays was impressive. He understood spacing, how to exploit the dunker's spot, and when to cut off defensive lapses, making him a highly intelligent and efficient scorer.     The top-scoring senior in TAPPS basketball reached a historic milestone, surpassing 2,000 career points. Hupp has been at the peak of his game this season, known for his phenomenal shooting efficiency, currently knocking down 49% from the field and 43% from three-point range. His offensive arsenal is as well-rounded as it gets—he can put up points at all three levels, whether it's catch-and-shoot threes, mid-range pull-ups, or finishing at the rim. His elite scoring ability and consistency make him one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in Texas high school basketball.     A fantastic on-ball defender, Fiesinger possessed quick, choppy footwork and a relentless mentality. His ability to stick to his man like glue made it nearly impossible for ball handlers to get past him. He consistently cut off straight-line drives and forced opponents into difficult angles, proving to be a lockdown perimeter defender who could neutralize even the quickest guards.     A versatile dual-threat offensive player, Greg Lawson stood out with his high basketball IQ and unselfish playmaking. Not only did he showcase a willingness to distribute the ball, but he also proved to be an efficient scorer at all three levels. Whether creating his own shot off the dribble or spotting up for catch-and-shoot jumpers from the perimeter and mid-range, Lawson's scoring versatility made him a tough matchup for defenses.     A relentless downhill attacker, Baker imposed his will on defenders with sheer size, strength, and determination. Once he got a head of steam, he became a freight train in transition, using his physicality to power through contact. Lowering his shoulder and attacking the basket with force, Baker was nearly unstoppable once he got inside.     With the ball in his hands, Callies was shifty and nearly impossible to contain, using his lightning-quick first step to blow by defenders and get into the paint at will. His ability to navigate through tight spaces was elite—not just on the dribble, but also when finishing through contact mid-air. He showcased crafty body control, effortlessly sliding off defenders, reversing, and going up-and-under with creativity. Whether finishing or drawing fouls, Callies was a relentless offensive force attacking downhill.     Hinchcliffe displayed great instincts in the middle of the floor, consistently timing his cuts to dive down the lane for easy layups. His hands were exceptionally reliable, catching quick passes in tight spaces while remaining unfazed by defensive pressure inside. His off-ball movement and ability to read the defense made him an ideal interior scoring option.
