Cumberland Valley (PA)/York High (PA) Game Recap

Cumberland Valley (PA) depth, experience and shot making was too much for a young York High team in Thursday nights PIAA District 3 play in game.    Willed his way using his brute strength to get to an array of spots on the floor. He was active on the interior showing he could outmuscle opponents to get 2nd chance efforts on offense. He also showed he could make others better with his facilitating. He had a game high 21 points. He did a good job of the glass and was able to make plays on either end.     Despite not being a scoring threat for a majority of the first half Diehl was a mainstay in the game showcasing his ability to make plays for others. He was frequently setting up others for success on the offensive end. Diehl thinks the game at a high level and reads and reacts to situations on the fly. His length allowed him to comedown with rebounds, steals and blocks. Diehl converted on three 3 pointers. He continues to get better and was impressed with his ball skills.     Dolimpio always in the right spots and the right time to find a scoring chance. He is an elite slasher and moves well without the ball in his hands. He showed that he could be a threat from behind the arc with several three pointers. Dolimpio showed he could find his open teammates for scoring chances of their own. He chipped in 18 points. I really like how Dolimpio is a bunch scorer and can find a bucket at any given second of the game.     He does a good job operating in transition and can either score for himself or find open teammates. Lebo flashed with his athleticism with a nice dunk. Lebo finished with 19 points. Lebo had four three pointers. His versatility is one of his best traits as a player. He found rebounds and is able to get it and go. Lebo is a great pickup at the small college level.     Barnes showed no problem getting shots off and was a relentless paint toucher who could never not find a way to score inside. He did a good job playing with pace and changing gears. He was able to make the most of 2nd chances efforts and came up with rebounds on offense. Barnes has a nose for the ball. He led York high in scoring with 16 points. Barnes had two three pointers. I would like to see Barnes become more efficient as a scorer.     No moment was too big for the freshman and he took the chances he was given to make an impact on the game. He scored eight points and had an efficient shot selection. Romero is a threat from deep and converted on two three pointers. He is a prospect to take note of in the class of 2028 in central Pennsylvania.     DeShields had great activity and had an aggressive motor with play. The southpaw showed that he could run the triangle and be a threat to the game any time he touched the ball. He was a menace on the glass finding ways to get rebounds. DeShields finished with eight points. He had great timing when going up to alter opponents shots and had several blocks. He also showed that he could score and found different ways to convert. He continues to get better with time and is a late blooming prospect.     Austin does a little bit of everything for his eagles team. He was active on the boards, came up with turnovers and did what was ever needed to help win. He scored around the bucket. Austin showed he could score from deep and had a few three pointers. He chipped in 14 points. I really like his versatility and would be a great addition to a small college program.
