A dual sport athlete, Smith is one of the best football players in central Ohio as well. When you watch Smith on the hardwood you immediately notice his natural athleticism and fluid movement skills for his height. Still a raw prospect from an offensive perspective, I'm hoping to see more from Smith in terms of a scorer and creator. While I expect Smith to make those steps, his ability to impact the game as a defender, shot blocker and in transition give him immediate production and long-term upside. I'm a big fan of what Smith could become down the road and am excited to watch what he's capable of achieving the next 15 months as a high school athlete.

Martin had a huge performance during the scrimmage season where he started to turn the corner as a wing who can impact the game in a variety of ways. With good size, the ability to knock down shots off the catch and a good feel for the game, Martin checks a lot of boxes. Martin still has some physical development to make by getting stronger and tougher but the natural ability to score, pass and dribble is rare for a prospect his size and age. Lots of upside with Martin and he's a name I expect to explode this summer for scholarship programs.

I'm a big fan of the way Quackenbush competes on the court as a wing forward who flat out produces. Able to knock down shots from the perimeter, if Quackenbush has the space the fire away from 3-point range, it's probably going in. Also a skilled player in the mid post area, Quackenbush can get physical with smaller defenders and punish them with his physicality and shot-making ability. This is a player where you know what you are going to get from him at the college level and won't be disappointed with his production.

Stalzer won player of the week from the Drive to Dayton podcast after a fast start to his junior season. A player who competed at the Prep Hoops Expo in the fall, Stalzer can score efficiently and play a role on the wing. I also caught Stalzer in the spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2078657' first='Shining' last='Star'] and will make him a priority to watch in the spring if I can't make it to a Mariemont high school game in the winter.

An Ohio State baseball commit, Hieber is not the only dual sport athlete featured in this article. Patrick Henry is one of the top rural northwest Ohio programs and Hieber is a big part of their success. I'm hoping to catch their program in the playoffs this season. In the last game of 2024, Hieber scored 27 points in a win over Columbus Grove. A prospect who would be a priority small college recruit on the hardwood, Hieber has his heights set much higher on the diamond.
