In the past week I think Groves made himself a firm favorite, Wilson made a jump, and Curtis opened eyes!

The Favorite. [player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves'] of Orono. Nolan is starting to push ahead of the pack as a pretty strong favorite to win this award. Orono blew out Chanhassen with Groves nearly recording a triple-double at 27 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for the game. Orono then blew out Waconia on Monday with Nolan hitting five threes for 38 points with five boards and five assists. Nolan really has a chance to make an impact this week with games against Wilson and BSM, as well as Madson and Mankato East.

New Runner Up. [player_tooltip player_id='1572689' first='Jalen' last='Wilson'] of BSM. Right now I think Jalen might be sitting in the spot to challenge Groves. He's got a big chance to go head to head with Groves in a game tomorrow night plus Wilson just went head to head with Thompson scoring 26 points. BSM has had some nail biters lately in games that shouldn't be nail biters but Wilson has had a couple game winners this year for a team that was number one most of the year.

Final Five. [player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson'] of Alexandria, Chace Watley of Totino-Grace, and [player_tooltip player_id='1574223' first='CJ' last='Armstrong'] of Richfield.

[player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson']'s Alexandria team is on a roll and just knocked off BSM. Thompson had 17 in the game with a key three late and some important defensive stops. Thompson had 32 points, five rebounds and five assists last Friday in a blowout win over Tech and then last night Alex beat Brainerd 77-45 but there were no numbers reported.

Watley has his team on a six game winning streak and eight wins in their last night games (only loss was by two scores to CDH). Watley had 25 in a top ten win over Anoka followed by 16 points in a 50+ point win over Armstrong. TG beat Osseo by 30+ last night but no stats were reported. Watley has been one of the steadiest players in the state all season.

Armstrong has his team on a six game winning streak and winners of eight of their last night just like Watley and TG. Armstrong had 31 points in a win over Cooper and then led the [program_tooltip program_id='2075852' first='Spartans' last=''] to a nice win over Mound-Westonka last night (83-71) with 23 points.

Top Ten. [player_tooltip player_id='1437303' first='Brogan' last='Madson'] of Mankato East, [player_tooltip player_id='1310206' first='Tommy' last='Ahneman'] of CDH, [player_tooltip player_id='1574212' first='Anthony' last='Smith'] of Hopkins, [player_tooltip player_id='1874916' first='Micah' last='Curtis'] of St. Louis Park, [player_tooltip player_id='1567964' first='Isa' last='El-Amin'] of Minnetonka, Tyler Wagner of Champlin Park

Madson had 18 points, four rebounds and five assists in a 30 point blowout of Northfield and then last night Brogan had 33 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a win over Century. East has a big game with Orono this Saturday matching Brogan and Nolan, who were teammates this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2075685' first='Minnesota' last='Select'].

Tommy continues to be out with injury but the hope is that he should be back in about the next ten games.

Smith had a couple 15 point, 5 assist games last week beating STMA and Tonka, and then 27 points in a nice win over DeLaSalle

Micah scored 33 points getting St. Louis Park within a score of Chaska before losing. Micah then had..... prepare for it..... 57 points last night helping his team beat Chan. Fifty-Seven points!

Wagner led his team to two more wins with 33 points in each of the contests. He sure likes certain numbers, when he's in the teens, its 19. And last week, 33 was his spot after 34 was the regular early in the year.

Welcome to the group [player_tooltip player_id='1567964' first='Isa' last='El-Amin']! Tonka is on a roll and even though they lost to Hopkins last night, it was by just two scores. The Skippers were on a nine game winning streak before that and pushed their way into the top ten. El-Amin is averaging 24 points a game.
