Biggest Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id='2457406' first='Eli' last='Brown'] (Chesnee) - Beginning the list of standouts from this week is Chesnee's [player_tooltip player_id='2457406' first='Eli' last='Brown']. Eli is one of the most improved players in the state and displayed it in the matchup with Blacksburg. After two early assists, he used a sequence of trips to the free-throw line to get his scoring game going and then it was all uphill after that. 13 of his 32 Points came in the opening quarter where he displayed a handle, body control, vision, and shooting. Brown has slimmed down over the past year and looks to be in great shape, allowing him to have the offense run through him on most possessions. Although he had to work around foul trouble and a few turnovers in the third quarter, Eli was a dominant presence for the Eagles in their winning adding 7 Rebounds and 4 Assists to his stellar scoring.

Braylon Blanton (Chesnee) - Braylon was the other Chesnee Eagle who stood out on Tuesday. He seemed to be everywhere on the floor, especially making key plays in the first and fourth quarters. The Wildcats would sag off Blanton when he had the ball, but his two first-half threes changed his offensive attack and improved the spacing of the Eagle offense. He also made the key assist to Hayden Barnett's and-1 for the lead followed by a steal on the next defensive possession to win the game for Chesnee. Braylon is listed at 6'2" and is a two-sport athlete, but on the basketball court, he will draw charges, chase down opponents in transition, and scrap for rebounds. Blanton put up 17 Points, 6 Rebounds, 7 Assists, and 6 Steals in the win.

Christian Federico (Blacksburg) - At times, Federico was the sole reason Blacksburg was in the game and leading it. He carried them offensively in the second quarter, hitting all four of his threes in a run to help them come back from an early double-digit deficit. He also had lots of success penetrating the defense and kicking out to open shooters. Christian is a good shooter with his feet set, a strong rebounder for a guard, sees the floor well, and plays off two feet in attack mode. He had a very balanced game in the tight loss Tuesday, racking up 23 Points, 11 Rebounds, and 6 Assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2299739' first='Reid' last='Hipp'] (Christ Church) - Reid had a strong showing for the Cavaliers and was crucial in their region win with the go-ahead putback with 1.8 seconds left. Hipp has a big frame and looked confident using it to dominate both ends of the paint on Friday. He showed off his passing out of the post, catching defenders sleeping off the ball. He was also very active on the glass on both ends of the floor. Reid is comfortable finishing over his left shoulder and is capable with either hand. He put up 9 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists, and 2 Blocks in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1806882' first='Ned' last='Murphy'] (Southside Christian) - [player_tooltip player_id='1806882' first='Ned' last='Murphy'] was a major bright spot for Southside Christian School in the region contest versus Christ Church. His combination of size and mobility were difficult for Christ Church to match up with and they went with smaller defenders on him to try to limit his playmaking. Ned adjusted to this well, as he began to dominate the paint in the second half. Murphy's soft touch and second jump were on display, two attributes he used effectively to clean up misses and turn them into second-chance points. Ned tallied 18 Points and 9 Rebounds against the Cavaliers.
