Expert Analysis
Andrew Baxley | Prep Hoops Scout
For the second year in a row, Brown led Class AA in scoring, earning him another award to add to the collection. It was no surprise to see him make the All-State Team, as he tallied over 22 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game. His assists and rebounds dipped slightly this year, but that is more a product of a better team around him on paper. Eli will continue his basketball career at Converse University.

. Brown began his ascension up the Prep Hoops SC Rankings at around this time last season, so he was a name highlighted to watch early this Spring. He had a masterful performance in the Hornets’ second game, racking up 29 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. His scoring attack was different in the two halves – in the first it was more perimeter-minded with the occasional settle while in the second half he was aggressive in getting to the rim. Eli displayed a good handle, great feet, and a high IQ in this game.

Eli had a great season for the Eagles as he finished up the season as Co-Player of the Year in Class 2A. Eli averaged 21.4 ppg, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season for the Eagles (21-6) and Head Coach Zach Baldinelli.
Brown a left-handed player is a deceptive athlete who brings good efficiency to the table. Eli really sees the floor well from out top and makes crisp passes along the way. He really seems to sport a bit of an old-school game at times.
Eli made the move up from #35 to #22 in this latest update of the Palmetto State Rankings. This Stock-Riser surely won’t be stopping here with another year of basketball left to go.

A huge reason why 2A Chesnee is more than halfway from matching its win total from last season, Brown proved to be difficult for Spartanburg Christian to contain. He put 17 on the board to lift his Eagles to a dominant win over the Warriors. Brown may be listed at 6-foot-4 but possesses an ability to run the floor well and make plays in the transition game. He uses his height to his advantage to get in position to convert on high-percentage opportunities close to the basket and will make efficient passes. Brown’s AAU career has included stints with Next Level Elite Poole as well as with Upstate Hornets.

. Brown plays for Chesnee High School in 2A Region 1 and averaged 10.4 Points Per Game and 6.4 Rebounds Per Game last year. Eli is one of the biggest stock risers in South Carolina’s 2026 Class over the last calendar year. He is one of the best passing big men in the state, has soft hands and touch around the rim, and can stretch the floor with perimeter shooting. Brown is also a capable ball handler who can create opportunities for himself and others off the dribble. His sound fundamentals and high IQ help him limit mistakes on both ends of the floor.

Brown looks to be a late bloomer for the Eagles. Eli showed up really well this past Grassroots season and with the Eagles during the June period. He has really defined his body and showcased his skills inside-out on the floor. Eli averaged 10.4 ppg and 6.4 rebounds last season for the Eagles – look for them numbers to climb.
Brown has a good skill set from all positions on the floor with his soft touch, willingness to finish and crafty passing skills.
