January 2nd-4th I attended the annual Hoophall West located at Highland HS in Gilbert this year and also the Nike Tournament of Champions at multiple high school gyms throughout the East Valley. In the three days I viewed seven different brackets (Hoophall West, Saguaro, Sonoran, Coyote, Jackrabbit, Camelback and Sunrise) which included two championship games (Sonoran and Sunrise).

[player_tooltip player_id='1580233' first='Paul' last='Osaruyi'] Bella Vista Prep (Pictured)

An athletic marvel literally jumps out of the gym. He will explode off of two-feet and dunk over, through or on an opponent. He had a rare true poster dunk and seems to live in the dunkers spot as a rim runner. He rebounds and blocks shots at a high level. His energy is almost contagious off the bench on a talented roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='2281701' first='Bruce' last='Branch III'] Perry

One of the top players in the AIA from the sophomore class. He scores with high level fall aways from mid to the three, crossovers into a pull-up and easy dunks on the break. He will collect a steal and find a player perfectly in stride on the break. He is also a great rebounder using his size and length.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555180' first='Delton' last='Prescott III'] Sunnyslope

A quick on quick undersized real point guard is lightning fast on the break. There are not many faster with the ball in his hands and has that next level court vision that most would envy. He scores with pull-ups from mid to the three plus has a polished floater game. He is very quick on the ball collecting steals in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407206' first='Cameron' last='Hurt'] Pinnacle

A pure point guard with a super tight handle, speed with the ball, a real burst with some shift and pinpoint passing to his teammates. He scores with quick downhill drives to the basket with nifty layups. He uses his length and quicker feet to defend on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2407207' first='Malachi' last='Mims'] Pinnacle

A tough and physical combo guard will score and defender. He will score with either hand to the basket in heavy traffic, he will rise up and hit from mid-range and his three point shooting keeps improving. He is also a sneaky good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466364' first='Gabe' last='Coronado'] Catalina Foothills

A bigger sized scoring guard rebounds well in his area. He has a nice three point shooting stroke off the catch with a super quick release. They set plays for him and he will let it fly from deep and shoots it from the mid-post. Defensively he rebounds well and will close out to shooters to block their shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2475408' first='Kyree' last='Harder'] Catalina Foothills

A newcomer for me is a natural scoring guard who plays on or off the ball. He can create his own offense and he is quick to get to the basket. He will also score it well on the break with some elusiveness and he is a nice future piece for the Tucson based team.
