Severson is one of the best freshmen in the state, regardless of class. A bouncy, physical 6-5 forward with soft hands and great touch around the rim, he's averaging 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Tigers, giving them an interior presence on both ends of the floor.

PF Owen Smith (Riceville)

A 6-4 big man who has been a steady presence in the paint for the Wildcats, Smith is averaging 10.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and is shooting nearly 56% from the floor. He gives the 'Cats some needed size and physicality in the paint, and has even shown some confidence in stepping out and stretching the floor on occasion.

PG Casen Woodward (Moravia)

One of three freshmen in the rotation for the Mohawks, Woodward is a key piece of the youth movement going on in Moravia after a very successful run over the last 3-4 years. A 5-10 point guard who does a nice job setting his teammates up, he leads the team in assists (3.4) and is second in scoring (9.4).

Things have been pretty bleak at St. Mary's in recent years, and this year isn't going much better, with the Panthers averaging just 24.2 points per game. That said, Movall, a 6-5 big man, has been a major bright spot, averaging 11.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game.

2028 might be the class of the big man in 1A, with Spencer also making an immediate impact in the paint for the Falcons. A 6-3/6-4 forward who runs the floor and protects the rim, he's averaging 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting better than 56% from the floor.
