LA VERNE — With the holiday high school basketball tournaments all but wrapped up, we wanted to put together a list of the top players we saw by position. In this piece we recognize the top guards we watched in the Gold Division at The Classic at Damien.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630625' first='Aaron' last='Glass'] | 2025 | Rancho Cucamonga

Glass was one of the event's top scorers and had his patented three-point shot dialed in from all over the floor. The 6-foot-3 Texas A&M-bound shooting guard scored more than 20 points in each of his four Gold Division games and knocked down off-catch and off-movement three's from deep throughout the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956465' first='Alijah' last='Arenas'] | 2026 | Chatsworth

All of the games featuring Arenas and his Chatsworth team were filled to the brim with fans who wanted to get a glimpse of one of the nation's best scorers and he didn't disappoint. The 6-foot-5 junior (potential senior with a "reclass" on the horizon) dazzled with his shot-creating and shot-making abilities to the tune of a 41.5 points per game average for the tournament, including a tournament-record 56 points in a loss to Prescott of Arizona. Arenas finished the event with 166 total points, also a Classic at Damien record.

[player_tooltip player_id='1896210' first='Isaiah' last='Johnson'] | 2025 | Campbell Hall

If usage rate were tracked at the high school level, Johnson would be among the state leaders in that category. The 6-foot-1 lefty seems to always have the ball in his hands and always creating shots for himself and teammates. The University of Colorado-signee averaged 34 points per game for the tournament and led the Vikings to a third-place finish in the Gold Division. Johnson is an elite scoring point guard with his ability to knock down jumpers off the bounce, finish craftily around the basket and get to the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1354953' first='I'yar' last='Shadowvine'] | 2025 | Ironwood (AZ)

The quick 5-foot-9 guard uses his speed and shiftiness to get in the lane and make plays for himself and teammates. Shadowvine's ability to push the tempo, punch gaps off the dribble and collapse the defense leads to countless open shots or re-drive opportunities. What's most impressive about the pace Shadowvine can play at is the control and stamina he possesses.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956461' first='Jason' last='Crowe Jr'] | 2026 | Inglewood

No "top guards" story with Inglewood in the event is complete until Crowe is written about. The savvy left-handed scoring guard set the Classic at Damien single-game scoring record with a 55-point performance on the tournament's opening day in a win over Chatsworth only to later see that mark topped by the above-mentioned Arenas a couple days later. Crowe's long-range shooting and crafty ball-handling and finishing ability led to him averaging 36 points per game for the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630655' first='Mateo' last='Trujillo'] | 2025 | Rolling Hills Prep

Trujillo is an underrated prospect in SoCal's 2025 class and is the engine that makes Rolling Hills Prep go. The 6-foot-2 point guard struck a good balance of scoring, playmaking and organizing his team's offensive attack. Trujillo is a sure-minded decision-maker who can score in a variety of ways but is best in pull-up situations from the mid-range area of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384451' first='Semetri' last='Carr'] | 2025 | Redwood

Carr is one of the most explosive athletes on the west coast and his combination of blurring speed in transition, burst of quickness in the half-court and vertical explosiveness made him one of the toughest covers in the event. The California-commit is best in open court situations where he gets the defense on its heels and puts pressure on the rim with his ability to attack the basket and score above the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='1336443' first='Uriah' last='Tenette'] | 2025 | Prescott (AZ)

Tenette falls into the category of "explosive athletes," as highlighted by his numerous highlight-reel dunks despite his 5-foot-10 stature, but his game is so much more than that. The UC San Diego-commit was one of the best pure scorers we watched in this event regardless of division. The lefty showcased his smooth pull-up jumper from mid-range and three-point levels of the floor and a lightning quick burst of speed out of ball-screen action that allowed him to get to the rim and finish through or above contact. Tenette averaged 30 points per game on the event, including a 54-point effort in a winning duel against Chatsworth and [player_tooltip player_id='1956465' first='Alijah' last='Arenas'].
