LADERA RANCH — Session 1 of the adidas-led 3SSB circuit tipped off last Friday morning with some of the top prospects from around the country making their way to OGP Ladera for the three-day event. While we watched plenty of nationally-ranked prospects over the weekend, we wanted to take some time to spotlight a handful of under-the-radar California wings, forwards and centers who stood out.

This was my first time seeing Bruce play and his combination of size, strength, ball skills, physicality and playmaking makes him an underclass prospect who Division 1 programs should track closely. The 6-foot-5 wing out of Oakland High is a jack-of-all-trades type player whose versatility on both ends of the floor stands out as his most valuable trait. Bruce has a mature frame with length and fluid athleticism that allows him to defend multiple positions. Offensively, the freshman is a slasher, driver and finisher with the handle and basketball IQ to initiate offense and create for others.

[player_tooltip player_id='2398419' first='James' last='Perry'] | 2027 | Lakeshow 17u

Perry is just scratching the surface of his potential. The 6-foot-7 lefty is long, wiry, agile and quick off the floor and it results in him being an effective at-rim finisher in transition and half-court settings. Perry fills lanes in transition and can attack closeouts with straight-line drives to the rim. He also showed impressive body control and the ability to score from a variety of angles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194707' first='Jordyn' last='Houston'] | 2027 | Open Gym Premier 17u

Houston is one of the more intriguing stretch four prospects in Southern California and his production showed up in a big way over the weekend. The 6-foot-6 junior knocked down 12 triples in his four games and shot better than 57 percent from behind the arc. Houston is a strong-framed and mobile forward who stretches the floor in spot-up, trail and pick-and-pop situations.

JP MInty | 2029 | Lakeshow 16u

Minty made a name for himself in Northern California after a breakout freshman campaign at Brave Christian and he has a chance to break on to the national scene over the next couple of seasons. The 6-foot-7 forward is a quick-twitch vertical and lateral athlete with the length, body control and footwork to guard multiple positions. Offensively, while still a bit raw, he showed flashes of touch out to the three-point line off the catch but is best in slashing, driving and finishing opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918062' first='Julian' last='Cunningham'] | 2027 | Gamepoint 17u

Cunningham has continued his slow but steady progression - which is a normal process for young big men - and has established himself as one of Southern California's most skilled centers. The 6-foot-10 junior had his most impressive game in a win over California Gold where he scored 14 points and knocked down a couple off-catch triples.

Max Cui | 2027 | California Gold 17u

Cui is a high energy and effort forward who is willing to do the dirty work to try to help his team win. The 6-foot-8 junior from Palos Verdes high school can score at the rim as a transition lane filler and rim-runner and can face-up and drive by slower defenders to his right hand. Cui is a player who pursues rebounds out of his area, will get on the floor for loose balls and is an active and versatile defender.

Teniola Bamisebi | 2027 | Team Lillard 17u

We watched Bamisebi last summer at California Live and he stood out then with his physical and athletic tools at 6-feet-9 with a wiry frame, mobility and coordination. The NorCal-based center still brings those traits to the floor and has shown improved feel, timing and verticality when anchoring a defense and protecting the rim. Bamisebi is a mobile rim-runner and ball screen roller and finisher.

[player_tooltip player_id='2838662' first='Brandon' last='Hahn'] | 2027 | Lakeshow 17u

Hahn is trending up as a stretch big man who used his combination of size, physicality and skill to put up impressive numbers in Lakeshow's 4-0 weekend. The 6-foot-7 junior out of Granada High was a threat to shoot the three in trail and pick-and-pop situations where his high release made it difficult for defenders to impact his shot with closeouts. Hahn also competed inside on both ends of the floor and showed that he's willing to play a physical brand of basketball. Hahn averaged 20.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
