ANAHEIM, Calif. — With the major shoe circuits back east last weekend we stayed in SoCal to check out more regionalized talent on the adidas 3Stripes Gold Circuit and came away impressed with the depth of talent. We spent all day Saturday at OGP Anaheim for the 17u action and saw a good mix of teams and players from out west. Below we take a look at the best guards we watched.

Anthony D'Acquisto | Bay City Warriors

D'Acquisto impressed with his do-everything impact in both games we watched. In the first game, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard was defending, rebounding and creating at a high level while also doing the intangibles and dirty work which led to winning plays. D'Acquisto put on a scoring display in the second game with catch-and-shoot threes and physical driving finishes in transition and half-court offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125364' first='Cooper' last='Harris'] | [program_tooltip program_id='2214029' first='Utah' last='Valley Prime'] (UT)

Harris brought a true point guard feel to the floor with his steady pace, high IQ decision-making and the ability to identify when to push the tempo and when to bring the ball out and run offense. The 6-foot-1 senior-to-be knew when and where to get his teammates the ball but also showed a scoring punch of his own with a balanced catch-and-shoot three-point shot.

Gavin Fletcher | Gamepoint

Fletcher is an under-the-radar prospect whose combination of off-bounce feel and sneaky vertical athleticism led to him being a standout performer on the weekend. The 6-foot-2 point guard flashed savvy off-dribble creativity when getting into his mid-range jumper or into the paint where he used a quick burst of vertical athleticism to score at or above the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2439046' first='Jerry' last='Stokes'] | San Diego All-Stars

Stokes is in line to be one of the biggest stock-risers in California as he continues to show that he's one of the best scorers the San Diego area has to offer. The 5-foot-10 point guard is lightning quick off the bounce with downhill, open-court speed and first-step acceleration that allows him to earn paint touches where he can score with mid-range touch or use his vertical athleticism and craftiness to score at the rim. Stokes is a dynamic offensive player who brings elite levels of confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='2885391' first='Kavan' last='Bowden'] | 7Days

From what we can gather via reported states, Bowden is the leading scorer in the 3Stripes Gold West field, regardless of age group, at 32.4 points per game. The 6-foot-2 combo guard fills up the scoring column with a barrage of three-point and mid-range jumpers and uses his isolation breakdown ability to get into the lane and score at the rim.

Kevin Singleton | I-Can All-Stars

Singleton is a talented offensive player whose craftiness off the dribble and with his footwork and finishing in the lane stood out as his best traits. The 6-foot-4 off-guard used changes of speed to keep defenders off balance and scored with floaters and eurostep layups at the rim. Singleton thrived in transition and isolation offensive situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='2647040' first='Nico' last='Mott'] | Coastal Elite

Mott is molding himself into more of a combo guard from a scoring off-guard and has made impressive strides as a playmaker and decision-maker. The 6-footer out of San Marcos in San Diego was orchestrating out of ball screens and made the right reads on when to hit the rolling big man, find an open shooter or create a scoring opportunity for himself. Mott, who has been known as a consistent perimeter jump shooter, showed improved confidence as a driver and finisher at the rim.

Peyton Lubash | UH Elite (AZ)

Lubash brought a ton of savvy and confidence to the floor as a ball-in-hand scoring and creating point guard. The 5-foot-10 Arizona-based prospect used his crafty handle to snake his way through the defense and into the lane where he drew extra defenders and made the right reads and decisions. Lubash had his three-point shot dialed in over the weekend as he knocked in 19 triples over the course of four games.

Ronnie Wiggins | Northwest Greyhounds

Wiggins initially stood out with his physical, disruptive and tough approach to defending his matchup. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard is built like a brick wall but has the lateral speed and anticipation to keep ball handlers in front of him. He also impacted the game offensively with his ability to knock down catch-and-shoot threes at a high clip within the flow of the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1724367' first='Saxon' last='Young'] | [program_tooltip program_id='2272999' first='Salt' last='Lake Rebels'] (UT)

Young is a confident and hard-nosed signal calling point guard who blends his playmaking and creating for others with his own perimeter scoring punch. The 6-footer out of Lone Peak (UT) has an impressive feel for the game as a transition and half-court connector with his versatile passing ability. When in scoring mode, Young can dial in his three-point shot off the catch and off the bounce.
