Brown played the best game I've seen him have in his career as he willed Olentangy Orange to a win over the defending Division I state champions. Brown was magnificent with his ability to draw the defense and hit cutters with impressive passes through traffic. Brown also was attacking the rim with aggression and simply powered his way to the paint a couple times to score at the rim. The definition of a winning basketball player, Brown might be the most valuable high school player in the state.

My first viewing of Friery and the Wildcats this season, I was impressed with what he showed me in a high intensity contest. Friery is one of the elite shooters in the 2025 class with the ability to catch fire from downtown and space the floor at 6'9. Friery also scored at the rim efficiently with a couple drives and finishes with his left hand and Friery executed BLOB plays to score. In the second half Friery had a transition dunk where he really extended to throw it down. An improving athlete, Friery is one of the most intriguing players in the Midwest from the class of 2025 and has a ton of long-term upside.

In a day that featured multiple overtime contests, Whorton had the lone buzzer-beater to win the game for STVM over Brunswick. Whorton caught the ball on the left block and finished over his right shoulder to lift the Irish to a key victory. Whorton did a nice job scoring as a roll man to the rim, improving his hands and his decisiveness as a finisher. Simply catching and immediately going up with a size advantage makes Whorton effective in the paint. This was a key win for STVM after they've played a really tough schedule up to this point.

Shaker played maybe the best game I've seen him have in his career in a high-profile environment. A versatile big, Shaker can play either the 4 or the 5 at the college level with his rebounding, ball handling and ability to move his feet defensively. With a good feel for the game, the ability to pass the ball or finish at the rim, Shaker checks a lot of boxes that college programs are looking for in a big. Already getting a ton of interest from top Division III programs, scholarship teams are also taking notice of Shaker's talents.
