Week three has been one for the ages, as the basketball season is in full swing. Teams are taking their games on the road and participating in bracket play and local classics that invite teams and players from outside their respective areas to compete. Here are some of the players I had the opportunity to observe who deserve applause for their efforts in supporting their teams. Some of these names are familiar as they are each vying for higher positions in our rankings, while others are new to the Prep Hoops platform. Nevertheless, take note of some of our best and brightest on the Louisiana hoops scene.

Jakorian Green from Mansfield delivered an excellent performance in a closely contested game against Green Oaks, posting a stat line of 24 points and 12 rebounds. He followed that up with a 23-point, 12-rebound performance in another win against a tough Ringold squad. The 2026 small forward is playing exceptional basketball right now.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543654' first='Joseph' last='Spann'] had an outstanding game, scoring 29 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals against D'Arbonne Woods in a significant victory. Spann is playing with tremendous confidence and is leading the Lincoln Prep Panthers to another remarkable start to the season, currently ranked as the #47 team in the state.

Kerel Dean showcased his offensive abilities in a challenging game against Ouachita, scoring 18 points in the loss. The recent Xavier College commit is playing at a high level right now, and I expect his game to continue to impress as Bossier enters the traditional holiday tournament season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1362436' first='Treylan' last='Neal'] is leading the Carroll Bulldogs, posting a performance of 24 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals this week. Carroll is facing a tough schedule, which includes games against Neville, Airline, Peabody, and Alexandria Senior High School. Currently ranked #39 in the state, Carroll could rise with some significant wins in the week ahead.

[player_tooltip player_id='1330583' first='Zion' last='Weeks'] is on a mission; even though his stats don't tell the whole story of his game, the senior playmaker and scorer is the engine for this emerging Wossman team. Weeks showcased his scoring ability with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals against Marksville. He is a game changer and is easily among the top 5 guards in the state, contributing to Wossman's current ranking as the #11 team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2691669' first='Cannon' last='Robbins'] is having an impressive season at Cedar Creek, currently averaging 25 points per game, and nearly 29 over his last two games. The senior guard is excelling at all levels and leading the Cedar Creek Cougars to their best start in several years. He plays with style and is instilling confidence in his teammates. Coaches and scouts are talking about Robbins, and his efforts are translating to his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132747' first='Ian' last='Edmond'], the 2027 point guard from Zachary, is dominating opposing teams, putting up an impressive 26 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists against Mandeville. Edmond is making a strong case for the top point guard in the state, and his statistics support his argument. He is a player you must see in person, as his defensive game is equally impressive. Zachary is currently ranked the #1 team in Louisiana, and their guard is a sophomore.

Tyron Grider delivered an impressive performance as Evangel defeated a scrappy Southwood Cowboys team. Grider finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block. He seems to be shaking off the effects of football season and getting back into basketball form. He is a strong presence around the rim and thrives in physical play. His contributions have been instrumental in wins over Avoyelles Charter, Captain Shreve, and Woodlawn this past week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543647' first='Cooper' last='Nelson'] continues to expand his basketball game, averaging 22 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds per game over the past week. His decision-making remains elite as he aims to empower his teammates on the court. He can score at will and has unlimited range from three-point range. Nelson is a player everyone agrees is worth the price of admission and doesn't take any plays off. Super Cooper continues to impress and lead the Sterlington basketball team.

The next article will cover the Belton Williams Classic at Wossman High School, where some of the top teams in the state from all classifications will be competing. Neville is led by [player_tooltip player_id='1679471' first='Allen' last='Fisher'], while Richwood features a dynamic duo in Travon Varner and top 2026 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1967568' first='Lavell' last='Lane']. Ouachita is the hottest team in Monroe, boasting a stacked roster of guards and possibly emerging as the favorites in the bracket play. Lincoln Prep, a tough small school, is led by junior [player_tooltip player_id='1543654' first='Joseph' last='Spann'] and could surprise some teams. Finally, the event will take place at Wossman High School, where senior basketball and football standout [player_tooltip player_id='1330583' first='Zion' last='Weeks'], along with Davey Mays, will be looking to protect their home court in what promises to be an action-packed event.
