On Friday, December 13th I attended the match-up of 6A Sunnyslope hosting 6A Perry. Both teams most likely will be in the OPEN playoffs and both are legitimate title contenders.

I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

Freshman Game (62-33 Perry won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2693801' first='Dane' last='Montague'] Perry

A massive post player has a strong base and moves well. He may be the biggest freshman I've seen to start in the AIA in over a decade. His hands are pretty good and he is a fluid mover and has a nice touch on his free throws. He will rebound at a high clip once he gains the position using his size and blocks shots in his area easily.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693841' first='Dane' last='Dancy'] Perry

A long and lean point guard can hit the three off the catch with a quick release. He is a quick driver with an elusive handle and burst to get a step on his defenders. He is a good passer who can be a needle threader to a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2693815' first='Thad' last='Egorerua'] Perry

A long wing can score and defend with a huge motor. He rebounds and collect steals. He scores with long strides in the paint and is athletic for his class and almost dunked the ball on the break. He can also hit the mid-range jumper.

Junior Varsity Game (Perry won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2292817' first='Kadin' last='Williams'] Sunnyslope

A scoring combo guard can fill it up in a hurry. He will rattle in threes off the catch with a nice looking stroke. He likes to catch and shoot but will give a hard ball fake and let it go. He can get to the basket and score it inside but is best as a perimeter shooter. He scored 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323611' first='Jerrance' last='Howard'] Perry

The son of a coach is a scoring lead guard who has real college range and elite confidence. He has a sneaky quick first step to get to the basket. He will often drive and kick it with a good feel. He will collect steals and scored close to 20 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146244' first='Cristian' last='Uribe'] Perry

A scoring point guard is a top-tier shooter off the dribble from mid to the three point line. He is also sneaky fast to get downhill to score. He makes smart reads and he is quick on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2292816' first='Luke' last='Galvanoni'] Perry

A cerebral wing forward who can score and defend. He will score with drives to the basket with counter moves around the basket and on put backs. He will also score with euro moves to the basket, make good passes and will defend multiple positions.

Varsity Game (61-52 Perry won)

[player_tooltip player_id='1150848' first='Nolan' last='Brown'] Perry

He may never lead this talented team in scoring as he had 7 points but he affected the game just as much as anyone who played. He collected four steals and maybe had five deflections to go along with seven rebounds, two block shots and five assists. His upper body strength combined with his super quick feet and natural speed make him tough to score on.

[player_tooltip player_id='1351133' first='Dominic' last='Avalos'] Perry

A good night for the scoring combo guard. He makes smart reads and never takes bad shots. He scored 16 points with 3 threes made including one four point play. He often cuts and keeps moving without the ball and the ball seems to find him.

[player_tooltip player_id='996172' first='D'Andre' last='Harrison'] Perry (Pictured)

The Missouri Kansas City commit set the tone early with 18 points on the night. He scored with tough dunks in the lane, runners over defenders long arms, mid-range jumpers and earns it on the free throw line. He passes the ball well and brings his hard hat every game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1129193' first='Koa' last='Peat'] Perry

The 5-star was a problem all night long with an incredible stat line unofficially of 13 points 10+ rebounds, five assists and five blocks. He dunks the ball way above the rim and sends balls to the stands with some eye-popping blocks. He will hit the three, pull-up from mid-range (which seems to be his pet move) and muscle his way inside to score. His most underrated skill may be passing. He finds players in stride perfectly like a point forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2281701' first='Bruce' last='Branch III'] Perry

The highly ranked wing forward is the lone non-senior starter. He rebounds at a good rate in his area and he is a phenomenal passer. He uses his long wingspan to defend and will score with catch threes, fall aways and mid-range jumpers. He scored an efficient 7 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] Sunnyslope

A fluid bigger combo guard moves the ball like you should and plays off of two-feet and is very controlled. He is an out of area rebounder and is active on defense especially in the passing lanes. He will score with threes off the catch, long striding layups and quick spin moves to the basket. He scored 13 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555180' first='Delton' last='Prescott III'] Sunnyslope

A dynamic scoring point guard has the ball on a string. He is super fast with the ball in his hands and is a great passer with a high feel for the game. He scores with threes with range, mid-range pull-ups and he has a nasty in and out dribble to get to the basket. He is very quick quick on the ball defensively. He scored 11 points with multiple assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] Sunnyslope

One of the top post players in the sophomore class showed off his talents in this big game. He scored 15 points with dunks, polished hook shots over the defenders arms, going right at the post defenders with zero fear, mid-range pull-ups, counter and double moves and earning it from the charity line. He rebounds anything near him with elite hands and will block a shot or two.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482163' first='Cristian' last='Simmons'] Sunnyslope

The big man is highly skilled and is strong inside the paint. He rebounds out his area and he is a very good passer for position. He shoots the three with an ultra quick release with some range. He scored 6 points as he only takes quality shots when given space.

[player_tooltip player_id='1741167' first='Kade' last='Snyder'] Sunnyslope

A physical power forward gobbles up all balls near him with a thicker frame as a high level board snatcher. He will take a charge and he does a lot of little things. He scores with layups and he is very patient in the post and brings natural energy to the court.
