Been a long time since I've been able to do some live hoops coverage. But I finally got the chance to cover the Jack Tosh classic today. Here's a look at some of by top standouts from the morning action at York. I'll do my best to watch some action this afternoon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598708' first='Gavin' last='Escobedo'] - Rolling Meadows

Escobedo was a huge factor this morning. Outstanding speed up and down the floor which helped give Rolling Meadows a massive lead early vs Timothy Christian. Up 21-1 not long into the game. Then 45-6 at another point. 6'2" 2025 shooting guard is a definite small-school prospect to watch. Mustangs are dominant in their opening round matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545127' first='Bradley' last='Biedke'] - Conant

The physical 6'5" frame of Biedke made it very challenging to match up with him this morning. Biedke came down with several strong boards on both ends, while showcasing lots of physicality with the ball in the paint. Drew a tough and-one in the third quarter. Big block in the games final seconds to help secure a victory. Nice assist from near the ft line to keep them in front in the 4th quarter.

Athan Berchos - Andrew

Berchos is a new name to catch my attention. The 2025 PG had a blazing start vs Fenwick. Finding a new way to score almost every time. Solid defensive capabilities too. Great at sliding his feet and forcing fast break opportunities. Did everything he cold in the 2nd half to keep Andrew in it after Fenwick went on a huge run. Never losing confidence from behind the arc.

Nate Marshall - Fenwick

The four-star DT showed that football isn't his only skillset this morning. Used his physical frame down low to create tons of space for easy buckets. Utitlized the screen really well, too. As the game progressed, I saw a passing side of Marshall that I hadn't seen before. Passing up at least two open shots for even easier buckets on the inside for the Friars. Part of a huge 3rd quarter run.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125664' first='Malik' last='Mahmoud'] - Andrew

This was the first time I really got to watch Mahmoud. To say he was impressive is an understatement. The 2027 guard drained multiple long-range 3's in the opening half vs Fenwick. Nice dribble-move to the bucket in the 2nd half. Mahmoud will be a name to watch in the coming years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105305' first='Dominick' last='Ducree'] - Fenwick

Ducree might have been the biggest difference-maker in the Andrew-Fenwick matchup. Very smooth touch around the rim to help him get lots of buckets. The long strides he made to the blackest were not unnoticed, either. Exploded in the second half to give the friars their largest lead of the game. Knocking down all his free-throws when necessary.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598778' first='Ty' last='Macariola'] - Fenwick

Macariola is an experienced senior on Fenwick with tons of varsity experience under his belt. Drained back-to-back triples as part of a huge run in the 2nd half. Had several steals on the defensive end, too. Part of a dominant 64-43 win.
