There were a number of remarkable individual performances around the state last week as we head into the holiday break. Below we take a look at eight of the top Class 4A showings from the third week of action in a series that we plan to continue throughout the year, hopefully without too many repeats!

2027 PG [player_tooltip player_id='2118611' first='Jerimiah' last='Washpun'] (Liberty) -- 31 points (12-23 FG, 4-10 3P, 3-5 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal [vs. Hempstead]

Washpun is one of the most talented guards in the 2027 class, using his blend of speed, handles, vision, and toughness to get to the rim routinely for finishes against the Mustangs. He can be a bit streaky as a perimeter shooter, but when he gets it going from 3-point range, it really opens everything else up for him, drawing the defender tighter and then using his quickness to blow by.

2025 PF [player_tooltip player_id='1381403' first='Creighton' last='Bracker'] (Council Bluffs Lincoln) -- 25 points (10-16 FG, 1-1 3P, 4-7 FT), 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block [vs. LeMars]

A big, physical forward with soft hands, Bracker has been one of the best rebounders in 4A for the last few years, and he was dominant on the glass against the Bulldogs, pulling down 16 boards while also scoring in bunches.

2026 SG [player_tooltip player_id='2731774' first='Caden' last='Green'] (Davenport West) -- 25 points (9-14 FG, 5-6 3P, 2-4 FT), 6 rebounds, 1 assist [vs. North Scott]

Green is in the midst of a breakout junior year in which he has established himself as one of the best scoring guards in the MAC. He's a quick, athletic guard who can create quality looks off the dribble, and he has also shown plenty of comfort shooting it from 3-point range off both the dribble and the catch.

2026 PF [player_tooltip player_id='1765553' first='William' last='Gerdes'] (Cedar Falls) -- 24 points (9-13 FG, 0-1 3P, 6-7 FT), 9 rebounds (6 offensive), 1 assist, 4 blocks [vs. Kennedy]

The 6-8/6-9 junior big man is really starting to round out his frame, adding some strength and explosiveness, which was on full display in a huge game against Kennedy. The Cougars didn't have the size to match up with Gerdes, and he took full advantage, pounding the offensive glass, finishing efficiently around the rim, and protecting the paint defensively.

2026 PG [player_tooltip player_id='1765539' first='Max' last='Roach'] (Waukee) -- 19 points (6-12 FG, 1-3 3P, 6-6 FT), 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal [vs. Waukee Northwest]

Roach saved his best game with his new team for the biggest one to date, controlling the game on both ends of the floor against Northwest. The Oskaloosa transfer uses his handles and quickness to his advantage, and he does a really nice job changing speeds and keeping his defender off balance. He puts his teammates in positions to score with his ability to break down the defense and get them to collapse, and he was excellent as an on-ball defender throughout this game.

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='2721787' first='Josh' last='Mogensen'] (Sioux City North) -- 25 points (10-17 FG, 2-5 3P, 3-3 FT), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 steals [vs. South Sioux City, NE]

Mogensen, a 6-1 wing, has helped lead the Stars to a solid 4-2 start, including this blowout win over South Sioux City, a game that he controlled on both ends. He can score from all three levels and does a nice job getting up into passing lanes and turning defense into offense.

2025 SF [player_tooltip player_id='1484415' first='DeAndre' last='Smith'] (Davenport North) -- 30 points (8-12 FG, 2-4 3P, 12-12 FT), 7 rebounds (5 offensive), 2 assists, 2 steals [vs. North Scott]

An athletic 6-4 wing, Smith was dominant in an impressive road win at North Scott last week, dropping 30 points on just 12 shots. His second jump is fantastic, and he does a great job competing on the offensive glass and getting easy buckets. He showed confidence in his jumper from 3-point range off the dribble, and was automatic at the free-throw line to help salt the game away late.

2026 PG [player_tooltip player_id='1736401' first='Emmanuel' last='Tete'] (Southeast Polk) -- 24 points (9-22 FG, 4-7 3P, 2-3 FT), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals [vs. Ankeny]

A quick guard who puts constant pressure on his opponent on both ends of the floor with his speed, Tete has stepped into a big role for the Rams as a junior, and as he showed against the Hawks, can have some big games on both ends of the floor.
