Tuesday November 19th I attended three prep games. I started my day off early for a 12:30pm tip with Phhoenix Prep OTE vs Cold Hearts OTE from Georgia.

Down most of the game, the local team stormed back led by some big shots by [player_tooltip player_id='1546975' first='Javon' last='Bardwell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2364383' first='Deshawn' last='Gory'] to win 84-81.

Then I headed AZ Compass Prep for a double header with AZ Compass Prep two OPEN teams vs Bella Vista Prep OPEN and Premier Prep Tucson OPEN.

Both Compass teams earned the wins 66-54 and 79-63.

Here were the local standouts on the day:

[player_tooltip player_id='1546975' first='Javon' last='Bardwell'] Phhoenix Prep (Pictured)

The recent addition to the team shined in their OTE home opener. He had a game high 26 points and did it in style. He hit threes off the catch with range and has elite elevation with his mid-range jumpers. He will euro down the lane with either hand and he had one tough hesitation to the rim and dunked it. He rebounds unusually well and will block shots off the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2364383' first='Deshawn' last='Gory'] Phhoenix Prep

One of the stars on the day was Gory. He closed out the game with three triples in a row and one being the game winner. He comes with deep range plus size for position and athleticism. He uses his bounce to grab rebounds out of his area and he actually had one nasty tip dunk. He also uses the floater game and can pull-up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1226605' first='Isaiah' last='Henry'] Phhoenix Prep

A powerful wing can catch and shoot from the three point line, defend multiple positions and get downhill with his strength and weight. He will straight line drive primarily with his right hand and seems to bounce off of defenders with his college frame with multiple and-1's. He dunks it easily on the break and will block a shot off the glass. A tough cover.

[player_tooltip player_id='2551867' first='Ethan' last='Croley'] Phhoenix Prep

The Nevada signee is a physical inside out threat. He can step out and shoot the three then bang with anyone in the trenches with his college ready frame and build. He rebounds well and gets second chance points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1391440' first='Kaidon' last='Rayfield'] Phhoenix Prep

The UTSA signee is a long forward who plays both spots for the OTE team. He grabs out of area rebounds and scores with tip ins, dunks and in-traffic takes. He blocks shots inside and covers his opponents in space.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822527' first='Devone' last='Pless'] AZ Compass Prep Black OPEN

A versatile forward who nearly plays all five positions on the court. He can score down low in the paint and go to work with counter moves and some fall aways plus he can face-up and use floaters and runners. He will grab rebounds out of his area and collect steals with his length.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194805' first='Marquice' last='Pless'] AZ Compass Prep Black OPEN

A good sized wing for an 8th grader. He will hit the catch three, score with offensive rebound put backs and get downhill with a nice handle to the basket. He has a plus motor to dive on the floor and get the 50/50 ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285501' first='Cezer' last='Sotomayor'] AZ Compass Prep Black OPEN

The top shooter on the team is Sotomayor. He finished the night with 14 points with four catch threes with a super quick release. He rattles them off with confidence and has a high feel to make plays. He had around five assists and smartly plays off of two feet.

[player_tooltip player_id='2639549' first='Issa' last='Mamadou Sow'] Bella Vista Prep OPEN

A talented 8th grader with elite size already for position. He can shoot the three off the catch, handle the ball decently and euro step down the lane in traffic. He will rebound and score on put backs plus block shots. He is from Senegal.

[player_tooltip player_id='1306055' first='Jibril' last='Mcdonald'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

A long athletic wing who runs well. He dunks it easily on the break and will grab offensive rebounds and score on put backs. He will hit the mid-range jumper and he is a transition stud. He is a good rebounder and he had multiple out of area blocks and collect steals with his twitchy athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id='1876367' first='Tyree' last='Winston'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

One of their top players is Winston. Simply put he plays harder than most. He has a huge motor to rebound in and out of his area and plays the passing lanes and will get steals in bunches. He can score with getting downhill thru contact, fall aways in the post and off the dribble mid-range jumpers. He talks a lot on defense and made a couple full court passes down the court on a rope diming a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109028' first='Malachi' last='Kaffey'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

A long pure point guard with next level court vision and timing. He can shoot the three cleanly off the catch with more range then a year ago. He has quick hands on defense and he is a hard player to trap with his handle and IQ. His ability to change speeds allows him to get to the basket with euro step and layups or suck in the D and find a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2639413' first='Ben' last='Jibikilay'] AZ Compass Prep Black OPEN

An athletic power forward is a fluid runner. He has natural springs to rebound out of his area with a huge motor and is very good in transition. He has a couple post moves at his disposal and he is a long strider towards the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276224' first='Tre' last='Wilkins'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

A thicker shooter knows how to play. He will catch and shoot from the three and get hot quickly. He smartly moves without the ball to get some space to score it, cuts when he should and he is a good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276250' first='Amani' last='Bonds'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

An athletic lefty wing forward is a two-way player who is an out of the area rebounder. He is a plus defender in space and inside who can defend the 1-4 for his team plus he is a sneaky good passer up the court. He scores getting to the basket and will hit an occasional jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='2639654' first='Kaden' last='Adams'] AZ Compass Prep Green OPEN

A catch and shoot sniper is a true specialist. It was a tight game and he literally rattled off four straight threes. He is a sneaky good passer for a two-guard using either hand and has a good sense of confidence and court awareness about him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633039' first='Joseph' last='Voorhees'] Premier Prep Tucson OPEN

A combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He has a nice shooting stroke and will move the ball like you should and will make the extra pass. He will get on the glass and uses his length in the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2404558' first='Ray' last='Porter'] Premier Prep Tucson OPEN

An athletic wing forward can score getting downhill, rip thru, get to the free throw line and can post up and rise up to score it in heavy traffic. Defensively he moves well in space and will grab out of area rebounds.
