About Javon
Expert Analysis
Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
The 5-star Kansas commit put on a show in Denver. Javon was easily the best player on the floor all weekend, showcasing his insane combination of skill, shooting, and athleticism. He was getting the crowd on their feet in all four games, throwing down NBA dunk contest level slams with windmills, tomahawks, 360s, you name it. He is also a knockdown shooter from deep, connecting with triples well beyond the three-point line. Bardwell was bringing the energy and will be one of the top high school basketball players in the country next season.

Javon Bardwell’s top highlight against Drive Academy may have been when he threw down an alley-oop off a pass from Taylen Kinney. He also did damage from the perimeter, knocking down shots from the outside. Defensively, Bardwell made opponents uncomfortable with his wingspan and constant energy. Overall, he was consistently making plays on both ends of the floor, and it’s easy to see why he’s headed to the next level as a Kansas commit.

Javon showcased his athleticism and length as a versatile perimeter player throughout the event. He flashed some above-the-rim finishing ability, while also displaying solid from both midrange and beyond the 3-point line. Primarily a scorer, Bardwell consistently found ways to put the ball in the basket from all over the court.

Javon was a very consistent all-around contributor this week (15 points per game) for Desert Mountain in their wins over Campbell Hall (CA), Bishop Gorman (NV), and The Branson School (CA) on a run that ended in the Platinum bracket semifinal game in a loss to St. Pius x St. Matthias (CA). Bardwell utilizes his length well to contribute on the glass at both ends, to get into passing lanes to create turnovers, and to shoot over smaller defenders on the perimeter and in the paint.
