NEPSAC Profiles: Lawrence Academy

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The&nbsp;<em>NEPSAC Profiles</em>&nbsp;series continues with a look at Lawrence Academy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Located in Groton, Massachusetts, Lawrence Academy is an independent school that competes in the&nbsp;<em>NEPSAC AA</em>&nbsp;division.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lawrence Academy will be led this winter by [player_tooltip player_id='1529122' first='Joey' last='Harris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2341363' first='Alex' last='Egbuonu'].</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Harris, a 6'4" wing for the Spartans, plays with an elite motor and a high basketball IQ. He's capable of guarding any spot on the floor, rebounds at a high level, and can finish at all three levels. He impresses with his ability to make the right read and is one of the best connectors in New England.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Egbuonu, a 20+ point per game scorer as a sophomore, is a major prospect with recruitment at the highest levels of college basketball. The 6'5", big guard is a mismatch on the offensive end of the floor with his athleticism and skill set. On the defensive end, he's a game changer that is capable of guarding multiple positions while racking up a high number of rebounds, blocks, and steals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below are four more prospects that should have a major impact for the Spartans:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2634307' first='Caleb' last='Baker']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Baker, a 6'4" wing, is a next level athlete with great positional size and length. He's terrific in transition when he can get out and makes plays in space, particularly as a rim finisher. He shows good body control and the ability to finish through contact at the rim. He's another multi-positional defender that does a great job in passing lanes while being disruptive on the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2341436' first='Evan' last='Mitchner'] Jr.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A big lead guard, Mitchner is the type of floor general that makes winning play after winning play. He has next level floor vision, makes great reads out of ball screens, and can finish at the rim or behind the arc. He's another terrific defender that knows how to utilize his physical gifts, in this case great length and terrific lateral mobility, to be disruptive at the point of attack.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2411216' first='AJ' last='Reinertson']</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Reinertson, an impressive prospect in the sophomore class, is a shooting guard that knows how to get it done off the bounce, playing off screens, or spoting up. He's a willing ball mover, does a great job of moving without the ball, and doesn't need a lot of time or space to get his jumper off. He has a high IQ on the defensive end of the floor, does a good job as a rebounder from the guard spot, and isn't afraid to give up his body for the good of the team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Charlie Van Patten</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A 6'5" wing that can really shoot the basketball, Van Patten does a good job of leveraging his shooting to open up driving lanes and score in the mid-range. He's a high academic prospect that can finish with length at the rim, plays through contact in the paint, and knows when to get into this pivot game off the bounce. He's a multi-positional defender that can stay in front of the ball on the perimeter or wall up with physicality in the post.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
