Jasiah plays the position of point guard at a very high level. This was really shocking to me because of his age. This kid already has the court vision and play-making ability of a player who's years older than he is. To only be a 6th grader, Jasiah has all the necessary traits needed to be successful now and in the near future. He's an excellent passer who often found open teammates with flashy passes. On a number of occasions these pin-point dimes lead to easy baskets for his teammates. Jasiah also excelled at using his great ball handling ability to blow by defenders. I saw him breakdown multiple players, attack the basket and score through contact. Those drives to the basket lead to three point play opportunities, which he often converted at the free throw line. He can definitely be an aggressive scorer when he has to be. Whenever he had the advantage over a defender, Jasiah capitalized on it! I watched him knockdown multiple threes, score from mid-range and get to the basket whenever he looked for his shot. After watching him play, I saw a great floor leader who always looked to make his teammates better. I truly believe he'll be successful as he continues to age, grow and mature in the game of basketball. Keep working Jasiah!!

Connor is the prototypical point guard who always looked to get his teammates involved on offense. In the game I watched against the Blaze he lead his squad in assists. He always seemed to find his teammates for easy shots at the basket. So passing is definitely a major strength of this kid's game. Don't be fool by his passing skills only.. Connor can also score when he needs too. I watched him effectively drive the ball to the basket and knock down long range bombs on numerous occasions. Connor was really good at attacking the paint and shooting floaters over taller defenders. In transition, he lead the fast break while either setting up teammates or scoring at the rim himself. Defensively, he crowed opposing guards and made it very difficult for them to be effective on offense. Really good on-ball defender who forced his competition into a number of turnovers. Connor and the Edgewood team were in a tight contest with the Blaze squad. This young man calmly knocked down a three pointer which ended up being the go-ahead basket in their victory. Connor's a very special player who has a bright future in the game of basketball.

Samari's an excellent scorer who's capable of making shots from anywhere on the floor. He displayed the ability of creating his own shots off the dribble with crossovers and step back jump-shots. In isolated situations, he showed the ability to drive the ball to the basket and score. (sometimes through contact) This kid is very skilled on the offensive side of the ball. I can honestly say, Samari made it look real easy out on the court! It really didn't matter who guarded him from the opposing team.. he would find a way to score the basketball. I watched him score on layups, three pointers, mid-range shots and fast breaks. As I said, he scored from everywhere!! Samari's an excellent rebounding guard who often attacked the glass on both sides of the court. Some of the defensive rebounds were fast break starters for his team. I saw a lot of easy baskets scored by his Perry Meridian squad under these circumstances. On defense, this young guy applied tons of pressure and forced a lot of turnovers. He had no problem keeping opposing players in front of him at all times. Samari is the kind of player who hustles on every play. Any coach would love to have a player of his caliber. He scores, plays defense and does all the intangibles needed to help his team win games. What's not to love!! Keep it up Samari!!

Jagger has excellent passing and scoring skills. In their victory over Roncalli Red he was the clear cut leader of his team. Excellent vocal skills by staying in constant communication with his teammates. He plays the game with very high energy and shows the ability to create for himself or teammates. Jagger's an excellent passer who had a knack of finding teammates in the most effective spots on the floor. He lead the Mooresville squad in assists during the game I watched. Jagger can really handle the ball. I saw no issues of him getting by defenders and making plays for himself or others. He often blew by the defense and dished off a number of nice dimes around the basket, which lead to easy layups for his teammates. Jagger's a really good shooter from all over floor, often scoring on floaters, mid-range shots and three point knockdowns. He stayed in constant attack mode when he was on the floor. Defensively, this guy plays with a high level of feistiness. A really tough minded guard who pressured opposing players into turnovers and mistakes. In my opinion, Jagger's a very capable lead guard who will excel at the middle and high school levels. Looking forward to seeing his progression as he continues to grow and age.

Blake is a really good player who showed why his all around game is legit on the basketball court. He's an excellent scorer who showed the ability of making shots from beyond the arc or within the perimeter. Great ball handler who easily drove by the opposition for easy scores at the basket. Blake can also pass and rebound the basketball at a high level. He was able to create his own shots off the dribble with side and step back jump shots. On most occasions these shots hit the bottom of the net. In isolated situations, (one on one) he showed the ability of attacking the defense and finding teammates for open shots at the rim or along the perimeter. Blake's a really good defender who can stay with opposing players. He had no issues fighting through screens and disrupting the offensive players' shots. Playing the passing lanes and forcing turnovers with great on ball defense made life miserable for the Edgewood squad. I watched Blake steal the ball three times and block two shots when an opposing player attacked the painted area. This kid is definitely a "glue guy" who does everything for his team. Blake is the kind of player every coach would love to have... A player who excels at every aspect on the basketball court. Keep working Blake!!

A tough minded scorer who has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. Especially when he gets on a roll! In the second half of the game against Edgewood Middle School, Kingston was unstoppable on the offensive side of the ball. He attacked the basket and scored with three point play opportunities on numerous occasions. Kingston had no problems knocking down mid or long range shots with complete confidence. In the first half of the game he exclusively looked to get his teammates involved with the offense. He was more of a facilitator rather than a scorer. (lead the team in assists) I was really impressed with his leadership in this game. Kingston kept his teammates motivated and constantly maintained a vocal presence on the floor. This young man knew the game was slipping away from the Blaze. So he took it upon himself to keep his squad in it. I believe he may have scored at least 18 second half points. Unfortunately, the Blaze fell a little short of completing the comeback. Kingston was a beast on the boards!! Grabbing everything he could get his hands on. The kid really showed promise on the defensive end of the court by staying in the jerseys of whoever he guard. His physical defense and steals are a big reason why the Blaze went on a second half run. Kingston was one of the best players I watched on Saturday. He has skills to lead a team and the ability to take over a game. I plan to monitor his progression.

Over the weekend I discovered a Fall basketball league where the classes 2031-2034 were represented. I decided to focus on the basketball class of 2031. I must say "they did not disappoint!!"
