The time has finally come as we have updated our senior class rankings in Virginia! The new rankings feature close to 40 new players, ranking 173 players in the state.

We'll take a look at some positional breakdowns in the rankings, looking at the guards, wings and forwards rankings. Here's part three of the guards, ranking the top 5 shooting guards and small forwards in the class.

5) [player_tooltip player_id='1956061' first='Sincere' last='Jones'] | 6'7” SF | Churchland (#11 Overall)

Jones has steadily seen his stock increase in terms of recruitment over the years, and he chose to commit to Virginia Tech and Coach Ryan Young. Jones should fit in well for the Hokies, who are in need of athleticism and versatility on the wing which he can bring immediately with his style of play. He's a strong and physical wing who can defend multiple positions and even play as a small ball four when he needs to, he is dynamic in transition as a finisher and can handle in transition when he needs to, he can make open shots and he still has a lot of room to grow moving forward.

4) Panagiotis Paganos | 6'9” SF | Massanutten (#6 Overall)

Paganos comes over from Greece where he was one of the top prospects in the country and led their U-18 team in the FIBA Euros this summer, and he'll turn a lot of heads when coaches get to see him in the Elite Prep League. Standing 6'9” with a frame the should fill out nicely, Paganos brings a lot of the European style to his game with his versatility and ability to impact the game across the board. He can handle the ball and is a high IQ playmaker who is a walking mismatch with his ball skills at his size, he can knock down shots from deep, he's a good rebounder and he's able to guard multiple positions too.

3) [player_tooltip player_id='1546447' first='Ryan' last='Crotty'] | 6'5” SG | Miller School (#4 Overall)

Crotty was one of the biggest stock risers in the entire country this summer, going from unranked to a consensus 4 star and top 100 recruit after being one of the top shooters in the EYBL, and recently committed to Oklahoma State before the season starts. Crotty broke out last season with Miller leading them a state championship and breaking the VA single season record for most three-pointers made in a season, and he showed on the national scale this summer he can shoot it about as well as anyone you come across. He's a highly confident shooter who will let it fly from all over the court and has effortless range, he can get hot quickly and doesn't go through long cold streaks, he moves well off the ball with good footwork and he can create his own shot off the bounce too.

2) [player_tooltip player_id='1410534' first='Jordan' last='Scott'] | 6'7” SG | South Lakes (#3 Overall)

Scott broke onto the national scene going into his junior season on the UA Circuit with VA Elite, and he followed it up with a terrific junior season winning a state championship for South Lakes in absolute dominant fashion. The 6'7” off guard is a consensus four star and nationally ranked prospect who has narrowed his list to Michigan State, Maryland and Virginia Tech, and whoever gets him will get a well rounded player who can impact the game on both ends and across the board. While he's known offensively for his ability to stretch the floor, he really shines as an unselfish playmaker who makes his teammates better, his positional size and athleticism along with his high IQ and motor makes him a great perimeter defender and he's shown the willingness to do the dirty work to help his team too.

1) [player_tooltip player_id='1591317' first='Nate' last='Ament'] | 6'9” SF | Highland School (#1 Overall)

Ament has seen a meteoric rise in his stock over the past two years since we made him the #1 player in the state in his class at the end of his sophomore season, and the way he's improved over that time has him as a consensus top 5 player in the country and has many NBA scouts saying he's a lottery pick in two years. Ament has always been intriguing with his ball skills at his size ever since he was young, but he's shown rapid improvement over the last year in his aggression and understanding of the game, while also growing a few inches and he's likely still growing. He's a knock down shooter from deep who doesn't need much space, he's shown improvement in his ability to get to spots off the bounce and make tough shots, he's improved as a playmaker with the ball in his hands and he's much more aggressive using his size to hit the glass and finish in the paint. While his recruitment is still somewhat of an enigma, he's considered a top priority for many of the top schools in the country and continues to climb ranking and draft boards almost daily.
