Yesterday, New England Recruiting Report and its staff hosted the New England Open Gym for basketball players in the New England area. The event was hosted at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. Hundreds of players from across the region competed in drills and live games to show off their skills in front of many college personnel and coaches, some of which were coaching on the floor too. There was a ton of talent that impressed me, so without further ado, here is part 4 of my standouts from the New England Open Gym!

[player_tooltip player_id='2633539' first='Avery' last='Mickens'] was scoring the ball well for himself and making things happen with the ball in his hands. He attacked the basket with his speed, finishing nicely off the glass for easy scores. He hit shots from the outside and used his length to rise over defenders. Lastly, he rebounded the ball well for a guard and pushed the pace to keep the defense on its feet, leading to tremendous offensive possessions throughout his time on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2633534' first='Dayn' last='Campbell'] showed off his three-level scoring ability along with his toughness and overall stability. He was consistently driving inside, using his body well to score through contact for layups. He combined that tough interior presence with his outside jump shot which he used to score off the bounce in the mid-range and hit shots from the three-point line. His dependability throughout his time on the court was noticeable, and it felt like he could get a bucket when the time was right to get his team back on track after a low period or two.

[player_tooltip player_id='2341428' first='Ryan' last='Bernard'] was playing his role by filling in when he was needed during crucial moments. What stood out most was his passing and unselfishness, making reads off drives to the outside for open jump shooters and finding leak-outs in transitions for easy scoring opportunities. He also rebounded the ball well at his size, made some steals at the point of attack which led to offense the other way, and even knocked down a solid catch-and-shoot three which solidified his great outing with the variety of ways he could help on the basketball floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2465136' first='Foster' last='Wilinski'] had some good moments playing off the ball. He was effective in hitting shots from downtown, with a solid and compact shooting form. He ran in transition by using his speed and finished well in the interior for easy baskets. Additionally, he made some steals on the defensive end, and his effort on that end was apparent as he moved well laterally and used quick hands to get the results he wanted.

[player_tooltip player_id='2626989' first='Graham' last='Lewis'] showed terrific potential as a scorer, specifically with his off-the-bounce shooting touch. He was getting to his spots and taking and making pull-up threes with confidence. His range was deadly, as it went out way beyond the arch which led him to continue to hit difficult shots while creating room for himself with his handle. The shooting he displayed also translated off-the-catch and he was spacing the floor the entire time on the court, which made it impossible for defenders to stop him when he was feeling it.
