Lewis really surprised me Sunday. I knew he could stroke it from three, but I was super impressed with his ability to drive the lane and finish with contact against the trees. The junior guard seems to have put on some muscle since the last time I saw him, and he’s a better vertical athlete than people think, so he does a good job converting in the paint. It’s his three-point shot that sets everything up, though, because people are constantly rushing him off the perimeter and forcing him into the paint. Lewis also rebounds extremely well for his size and defends hard. He’s a definite D3 player but also might be looking to reclassify at some point, which could get him on the radar of some of the higher level D3 programs.

Lewis didn’t shoot the ball well when I watched him on Monday night, but I really liked his feel for the game and pace. He has a good handle and plays with his eyes up, so he’s always ready to make the cross court or kick ahead pass to teammates. He makes the right play consistently for himself or his teammates and has good discernment in terms of passing vs. shooting. I have to imagine he’s normally a solid shooter, too, based on how his release looks and the types of looks he was getting. He should have a big year at Manchester Essex next season and will likely find a D3 fit when the time comes.

Lewis is a 5’11” guard out of Manchester Essex Regional. The 2027 prospect is a confident scorer and, after a strong sophomore season, is poised to be a breakout performer this winter in the MIAA. He does a nice job of creating for teammates out of ball screens, typically makes the right decision with the ball in his hands in transition, and can really knock down shots in isolation situations. He makes threes at a high clip, is a crafty scorer around the rim, and is nearly automatic from the free throw line. He competes defensively and does a good job of turning defense into transition offense.

showed terrific potential as a scorer, specifically with his off-the-bounce shooting touch. He was getting to his spots and taking and making pull-up threes with confidence. His range was deadly, as it went out way beyond the arch which led him to continue to hit difficult shots while creating room for himself with his handle. The shooting he displayed also translated off-the-catch and he was spacing the floor the entire time on the court, which made it impossible for defenders to stop him when he was feeling it.

Lewis is short in stature and won’t wow you with athleticism but he is one of the best finishers for his size and physical profile that I’ve seen. He’s got excellent touch off the backboard with both hands and is able to finish with lots of contact in the lane. He’s also great at using his off-hand to fend off defenders’ active hands when getting pressured. As only a sophomore, Lewis could grow into what I would consider a high level D3 guard, especially if he continues to grow and get stronger.
