Yesterday, New England Recruiting Report and its staff hosted the New England Open Gym for basketball players in the New England area. The event was hosted at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. Hundreds of players from across the region competed in drills and live games to show off their skills in front of many college personnel and coaches, some of which were coaching on the floor too. There was a ton of talent that impressed me, so without further ado, here is part 3 of my standouts from the New England Open Gym!

[player_tooltip player_id='2427090' first='Jakub' last='Lomicka'] displayed a lot of on-ball offensive skill for a big forward. With a solid handle, he was getting inside the interior using his body well for sweet reverse layups and hesitation finishes off the glass. He made nice passes on the move, finding his teammates as the lead ball handler. He also stretched the floor from three and looked comfortable hitting shots off the catch in rhythm. On top of all of that, he competed on the defensive end, especially on the perimeter, and used his length down low for contests which led to an outstanding all-around outing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1532461' first='Julian' last='Dent Jr'] was one of the best wing defenders I saw there. Long and lanky, he was guarding his assignments on the outside by denying them access to the rim and forcing them to pass the ball. He was also rebounding the ball effectively, leaping over bigger and stronger players, and playing with a certain edge that was admirable and needed. Offensively, he had flashes as a passer in transition and some sweet finishes through contact on drives to the cup, not being afraid to use every inch of his frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2633531' first='Solis' last='Blue'] showed off a lot of offensive firepower and athletic gifts, even though being an undersized guard. On the ball, his dribble was unbelievable, weaving through tight spaces and running at full speed, while keeping control of the ball and scoring on the interior. He also made some ridiculous finishes at the basket that left me speechless with his sky-high confidence. He was making plays for others, finding cutters in the halfcourt while also leading the break and finding his teammates sprinting down the floor. He was even playing sneaky defense, having great timing in the passing lanes and racking up steals. A tremendous performance that left me super intrigued with his potential going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2470979' first='Kadrian' last='Reeves'] was productive when given the ball on the offensive end. He was getting to the rim and using his speed through traffic while using his tight handle to make some space for himself. He also got to his crossover and knocked down mid-range jumpers to keep defenders off balance while additionally playing active defense at the point of attack with good footwork.

[player_tooltip player_id='2630907' first='James' last='Tracy'] had great moments as an off-the-catch three-point sniper. Every time given the ball, he took the right shots from the corners and hit his outside three balls with perfect mechanics. With a quick release, nothing was stopping him from hitting his jump shots and his teammates fed him the entire event and succeeded heavily because of it.
