Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
His gangly limbs allow him to secure rebounds and make plays around the glass. A high-flyer with good timing, he shows the ability to play above the rim and finish. He consistently makes hustle plays to keep offensive possessions alive and isn’t afraid to step out to the perimeter to help space the floor. Defensively, he has the versatility to guard multiple positions. Adding more muscle to his frame would help him handle the physicality at the next level.

Dent Jr. is a physically imposing specimen who has a super intriguing skill set given his tools. He’s a mid range maestro who does a good job elevating and staying on balanced, and he has a really nice-looking stroke once he enters the paint. He needs to improve his consistency from three, but his mechanics are certainly there. The 6-foot-5 wing also uses his exceptional length for some really nice finishes at the rim, and he has a motor that allows him to excel on the offensive glass and as a versatile defensive player.

Dent, a foward out of the King School, made his mark as an active and athletic two-way forward on Saturday. A plus athlete, he did a great job of finding soft spots in the defense as a cutter and then quickly elevating to score over defenders. He has great touch around the rim and a nose for the ball on the offensive glass. On the other end of the floor, he has the tools to guard up and down a lineup, gives great effort on the defensive glass, and shows the ability to quickly transition from defense to offense.

Dent is a positionless, 6-foot-5 senior who does basically everything on the basketball court. Against Austin Prep on Saturday, he stepped out and made some outside shots, he got to his spots in the mid range and elevated for jumpers, he slashed into the paint for finishes, and he did all the little things that his team needed him to do. He’s in great condition, does the stuff that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet, and he ends up putting up solid numbers as a result. D3 schools should be all over his potential.

was one of the best wing defenders I saw there. Long and lanky, he was guarding his assignments on the outside by denying them access to the rim and forcing them to pass the ball. He was also rebounding the ball effectively, leaping over bigger and stronger players, and playing with a certain edge that was admirable and needed. Offensively, he had flashes as a passer in transition and some sweet finishes through contact on drives to the cup, not being afraid to use every inch of his frame.
