Freshman Series: Under The Radar 2028’s

Although he's not the tallest guy on the court, he makes his presence felt by playing with a lot of tenacity. His go to move on offense is typically driving to the rim, but he can shoot pretty well too. On defense, he uses his speed and lateral quickness to stay in front of his guy. In the times that I have watched him play, he does a great job pressuring the guy that he is matched up with. You also notice that it isn't easy to get around him. On offense, he is a creative finisher and can make tough lay-ups. He is usually one of the taller players on the court, and stands at 6'6. Currently his top attributes are interior scoring and rebounding. He can shoot, plays with a high IQ, and plays his role. At the moment his best skill is his 3-point shooting and it really helps his his team space the floor. Although he is just a freshman, he should get a decent amount of minutes on the varsity team this season. In the fall league games that I watched him play in, he definitely did not mind mixing it up with some of the opposing teams bigs. Overall, I liked what I saw. His top skills appeared to be rebounding and defense. The other thing I noticed is that he has the frame and athleticism needed to thrive in high school basketball. A majority of his buckets come from 3-point attempts or near the rim. Edwards is also one of the more adequate ball handlers in this class, and he has the ability to push transition. He hits shots that you may not expect to go in. I also noticed that he knows how to play off of 2 feet, and he can get buckets that way as well. He plays with a lot hustle and doesn't give the guy he's guarding much breathing room. Carillo can be a facilitator on offense, but also knows how to get his own shot. All in all, there is a lot to like about his game. On offense, he has some solid change of direction skills. When he gets his defender off balance, he can knock down mid-range shots and get to the cup as well.
