Class 3A Stars to Watch (Part 3)

Norris is a player who is probably due for a jump up the rankings again after spending more time reviewing some of his tape from his junior year, in which he was fantastic for the Panthers. He averaged 20.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals a game on 51-38-58 shooting splits, leading the team in each of those categories except steals. He has great size at 6-5/6-6, allowing him to get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants, and he can really shoot it from 3-point range.     Carlson is a big-time scorer who could average well north of 20 points a game as a senior for the Wildcats. He put up 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists a night last season, and Humboldt lost their leading scorer to graduation. He's a talented guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, attacking downhill or knocking down shots off the catch.     Manske will play quarterback at Iowa State, but before he heads to Ames, he'll be looking to help lead the Bulldogs back to the state tournament like he did as a sophomore. He's an efficient three-level scorer, averaging 16.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game on 48-37-62 shooting splits. He's a strong wing who can create his own shot, and he sees the floor really well.     Simons transfers into Assumption from United Township (IL), and he'll be looking to help fill the void that [player_tooltip player_id='1660062' first='Navon' last='Shabazz'] left when he decided to play his junior year at United Prep. Simons is a long, athletic guard who excels when he's playing downhill and using his combination of speed, length, and handles to blow by defenders and get to the rack for buckets. He finishes well with either hand, is a skilled and creative passer, and is a solid defender both on and off the ball, utilizing that length and quickness to get his hands on a ton of passes.     An off-ball guard who can really shoot it from 3-point range, Rotzoll knocked down just under 43% of his 3s as a junior for the Clippers en route to averaging a team-high 16.5 points. He's at his best when he's operating without the ball, finding open spots in the defense where he can spot up, get his feet squared, and fire.     A long, athletic wing who can score from anywhere on the floor as well as create quality looks for his teammates, Hoyt led the Panthers in scoring (14.7), rebounding (7.0), and blocks (1.2) while ranking second in assists (2.3) and steals (2.2).     McIlrath is another versatile, efficient scorer who shot nearly 57% from the floor as a junior, leading the Tigers in scoring at 15.3 points per game. In addition to his work on the offensive end, he averaged 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game, providing a bit of versatility on that end of the floor.     Murray was second on the team in scoring last season, averaging 10.4 points per game, but he should be the primary option this year for the Saints. He's a skilled guard who can shoot it off the catch, and he has really improved as a ball-handler and shot creator over the offseason.
