Colorado Springs-Colorado. Prep Hoop California was at the 2024 USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team October Minicamp. From October 11-13 approximately 75 top prospects from around the United States came together at the USA Olympic Training Facility for the October Minicamp. California was well represented with 7 prospects. Two class of 2025, three class of 2026. We had two groups, our two class of 2028 prospects were in group 1 made up of 2027 and 2028 prospects. Here's what we saw

The beginning of each day consisted of 30 to 40 minutes of stretching and warmups to get the body right. Then they moved into smaller groups at the 2 court facility for group instruction. Fundamentals, movements, and decision making were a big part of what coaches were locked in on in small groups.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630617' first='Brayden' last='Burries'] 6'5 2025 Forward attends Eleanor Roosevelt HS, he's from Riverside CA. He's the #1 ranked prospect from California in the 2025 Class. He's listed as a forward, but he has the play making skills of a guard. His decision making, ball handling, passing with vision, up top and in transition were all on display. He'll knock down 3's, and explode to the rim, as well as maneuver his way in. At 6'5 he rebounds, and defend multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630618' first='Nik' last='Khamenia'] 6'6 2025 Forward attends Harvard Westlake HS, he's from Studio City, CA. He's right behind Burries in our ranking at #2 in California. Standing 6'6 he has good movement without the ball, getting open to knock down a jump shot, and making the cuts to finish at the rim. He works mostly from the side, and along the baseline using his dribble, and body to get to the basket, and hitting 3's, and mid-range jumpers with consistency from around the perimeter. He'll work the boards, and defend his position.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131779' first='Brandon' last='McCoy'] Jr. 2026 6'4 Guard attends St. John Bosco HS, he's from Oakland, CA. He was the #1 prospect in the 2026 class from California before [player_tooltip player_id='1702934' first='Tyran' last='Stokes'] headed over to Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks. You can debate who's 1 or 2. McCoy is an experienced camper, he's been locked in with USA Basketball for a while. The 6'4 lengthy guard can do it all at a high level, blending his overall talents to match the needs of the team on both sides of the ball. Sacrificed scoring, High IQ, willingness to facilitate, and involve others, he's a top notch defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956461' first='Jason' last='Crowe Jr']. 6'2 2026 Guard. He now attends Inglewood HS, after transferring from Lynwood, he's from Lynwood, CA. Offensively he's like poetry in motion when he's got the basketball. He's got a bag full of moves, and counter moves to get a bucket from anywhere on the court when he goes forward, as they say a 3 level scorer. What jumped out to us is just how good of a defender he can be when locked in. He's talking, stays tight making it tough on handlers, he's a good helper. Has vision

[player_tooltip player_id='2131780' first='Christian' last='Collins'] 6'8 2026 Forward attends St. John Bosco HS, he's from Playa del Rey, CA. He has a long wingspan, lateral movement to defend multiple positions. He denies on the perimeter, doesn't allow you to turn the corner. He can handle the paint action using length, and quick reactions to go after blocks, and rebounds. He has the offensive tools to be productive, good finishes around the rim, using his dribble drive with balance, spin moves to get to the paint. He's an excellent passer.

Jordan Mize 6'5 2028 Forward attends Sierra Canyon HS, he's from Elk Grove, CA. He didn't get caught up in the moment. Mize looks ready to contribute right now regardless class at one of the top schools in SoCal. He's long, wiry and locks in on the defensive side of the ball. A good stance, has foot speed, moves his feet laterally, extends the arms, he wants to defend. He did well up top, handling ball pressure, setting the offense, keeping his dribble live. He'll get aggressive looking for his shot off the dribble, mid-range jumpers, floaters, and paint jumpers. He'll shoot open 3's.

Jaalen [player_tooltip player_id='2484356' first='Boss' last='Mhoon'] ([player_tooltip player_id='2484356' first='Boss' last='Mhoon']) 6'4 2028 Forward, he attends King's Academy, San Jose, Ca. He was the only prospect from NorCal. The long wiry Freshman handled his business, he wasn't in awe. He used his length on the defensive side to defend, not giving up easy buckets, challenging drivers, going after blocks, he might have taken a charge. The lengthy arms and lateral movement helps him defend away from the basket. He was good on the box out going for rebounds. He did some handling in the open court with good ball movement, and decision making.
