South Dakota 2027 Rankings: Stock-Risers

Prep Hoops Dakotas has some more stock-risers to mention from the recent South Dakota 2027 rankings update. We have 12 total prospects in this article. It won't be a full evaluation, as we will focus on key strengths and traits of the prospects.    I really like Bo and how well he translates to the next level as a 6'5” lengthy wing with a great feel for the game, IQ, and shot-making. After going back and watching more film to do this eval, I could easily seeing him being a top 10 prospect in this class. He's a focused off-ball defender and uses his long arms to gobble up space. Offensively, he's sound as ever, where he'll take what the defense gives him. And he has options on the court because he's a three-level scorer. I think Bo only goes up from here.     Kai really popped and stood out at the Dakotas Sophomore ID Camp. We were clearly too low on him simply because I hadn't seen him more than a few times and zero times live. Saw him live in Sioux Falls then found some non-varsity O'Gorman film to fully evaluate him. Well anyways, Good brings the juice and competes 100% on both ends. Plays extremely fast with the ball and is looking to put pressure on his defender. If you're defending him you have to be locked-in every second, because he will attack a back-peddling defender. O'Gorman is absolutely stacked at his position on the varsity level and the coaching staff will have to make some tough choices on playing time for its 2-guards. His time will come, and my bet is that he delivers.     Kieffer is combining his freak athleticism with a developing skill-set. He showed to be a solid distributor of the ball in the half court, with a really skilled and explosive handle on the ball. One of the top few vertically-gifted and bouncy athletes in the class. He uses that athleticism to finish at the rim. Gets by his initial defender quite easily with his burst.     Hiltunen is so smooth, skilled, and composed on the court. He plays his game to his ability and doesn't let surroundings affect him too much. A smart high IQ player that makes great decisions as a passer and shooter. Lefty three-ball that is consistently on the money. One of the top pure shooters in the class.     Vavruska is another one that will need to be moved up even further up the rankings board after viewing some fresh Spearfish film. The 6'3” guard/wing got varsity playing time as a Freshman on the AA level. I think he's about a top 20-15 prospect in this class. A solid athlete that moves well in a straight line and can get in a stance and move horizontally. His calling card is his ability to stretch the floor from three with a high release. He wasn't playing free and loose at the AA varsity level as a Freshman, but I think he'll be easily comfortable this upcoming season.     Shawd has developed into one of the top shooters in the 2027 class. Such a pure shot from range, with consistent form and release. It just looks natural and comes out of his hands smoothly. His defensive ability cannot go unnoticed either. Sound and disciplined, with quick lateral feet to stay in front and pressure some. Moves well with the ball-handler and holds his ground with some physicality.     Tycz is a shifty point guard that competes and plays with quickness. He was with [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick']'s second team. He has a quick handle on the ball and creates a bunch of positive action and positive plays. Moves the ball quickly and gets in the middle of the paint and is a passing and pull-up threat. Is a solid shooter from three as well.     Beau is a relentless competitor that is always bringing it and is consistently producing. With [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick'] 15U-Knight, he didn't go many long phases without impacting the game in some way. Runs the floor, slashes off the drive, and can setup and nail threes. Plays with toughness and will get physical with opponents.     Arend is a point guard I'm really starting to like. Very active defensively and will make plays on the ball and jump lanes. Gets his hands in and digs at the ball. Athletic and can move and jump. Seems to have some playing strength, as I saw him get physical with size in the high post.     After seeing him live at the Dakotas Sophomore ID Camp and online with Sanford's second 15U team, Zephier has a much better skill-set and offensive ability than I had realized. He also is a very scrappy defender that will get his nose in the action. Has some long arms for a guard. Quick athlete with ball skills. Does a good job of attacking the lane and kicking out to shooters or to keep ball movement.     In the past, when I evaluated Juffer, he seemed to be just a lengthy kid that can run. He is definitely lengthy and he actually runs much better than I thought. He can also get off the ground and jump. A glider on the court that can pick up ground with long speed and short speed to close on shooters. He's fairly skilled and polished than you'd might expect. Passes the ball cleanly, can bring it up-court, and is a serviceable shooter. I think he's one that should still be ranked higher.     King is another solid guard for [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy'] 15U Grey team that moved up the rankings. He plays mistake-free basketball and truly values the ball. A quick athlete that can create space off the dribble. A lights-out shooter from three in a catch-and-shoot. Great at staying in front of the ball-handler while also applying heavy pressure.
